TTFTM I'm another who's rubbish with words. I started writing something, it was too blunt – delete. Something else, it came across as patronising – delete. So can I just say, I think you're fabAnd you don't have to be positive all the time, how you feel is how you feel and that's that xx Sorry to hear OH's job has got even worse
Molly I remember you mentioning your 'friend' before, what an appalling woman.
dandy-candy Don't tempt meThere's nothing I'd love more than to crochet all day long, but sometimes if I sit for more than half an hour I stiffen up. It's not as bad as before but I keep moving as much as possible because I'm now paranoid about it :rotfl: I did make a start on a scarf to match my gloves though

Moorhen I'm glad things are improving x
Good luck to your daughter Julie x
I made some cheesy potato cakes (onions and potatoes from the garden, cheese from the shop, lol) from leftover mash. They were supposed to go into the freezer but everyone tucked in before they'd even cooled downI have four left, they'll get used today. Also boiled some potatoes and made potato salad with some of them and froze the rest.
The tomato plants seem to think they should carry on growing, they're sprouting new leaves. I know they do this anyway but they seem to have a fierce determination this yearMust be perfect conditions for them in the greenhouse. I'll sort them out this morning.
Most annoyed that the biggest craft selling website has changed it's terms. It's all very prettily worded, but basically means they're allowing mass produced stuff. So it's turned itself into ebay then, but with fixed prices

Good Morning everyone, nice sunny day again but decidedly nippy first thing. I think it will warm up quickly though and hopefully I'll get the bedding washed and dry on the line outside. He Who Knows is home today and the lurcha will be a much happier boy, he loves his Dadi!!!!!
I'm going to sort out the 'rag bag' today, I've squirrelled away many, many things in case they have an afterlife as a different textile but it's got to mountain proportions and I'm sure I don't need it all so into the clothing bank it will go!!! I'm inundated with the harvest at the moment and was mightily relieved yesterday to find a recipe for 'blackberry chutney' in one of my wartime cookery books so a big batch of that is on the books this afternoon, I can't fit much more into the freezers and we've eaten more fruit and veg this summer than I'd have thought two people could do. Never mind, we'll miss it when it's autumn I'm sure.
TTFTM I hope you're feeling a bit better about yourself this morning, and that you are recovering from the aftereffects of the anaesthetic too. It's a sadness that some folks are shallow enough to judge people purely on thier outside appearance but we on here know you from your words, thoughts and sentiments and I get the feeling that you are one of those rare and lovely people who are beautiful from the inside out who shine from within with your own light and I so wish you could see yourself through our eyes love, it might make you see yourself in a totally different way. Have yourself a good day and I wish you many things to make you smile!!!
Have a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Thank you so much for the good wishes re yesterday, I had a bit of a weepy morning but then took mum out for lunch (although she insisted on paying) and then a bit of shopping. We raised a glass to dad in the evening, you are all very kind thank you xx
Bright and beautiful morning here although a little cold, I bought dd some new towels in sainsbugs, really good value I also got us some hand towels, so they are all in the wash, will hang them on the line after this.
Sistercas, yes DD is moving out in about a week or so she is going to share a student house with another girl, I am torn between being ridiculously excited and heartbroken:rotfl:I wont miss the mess she creates but I shall miss the company!
Anyhoo today OH and I need to cut the plum tree back a little bit its knocking on the neighbours window so will trim it a bit.
I also need to clean the fridge out shopping coming tonight. we are also going out with my sister at some point either for lunch or dinner, as its her B'day today.
TTFTM Ive seen your photos on FB, so be quiet woman you are blooming lovely inside and out
Have good days all and good luck to those getting results today xx0 -
Morning all
Feel a little sad today, as would have been my mums birthday, although its been 14 years since I lost her, for some reason I really feel I today. Am going to keep busy, see below!
Glorious morning here in Kent. Swam for ages in the pool, the sun was shining on the water through the windows and it was lovely, it's amazing how many lengths you do when chatting!
Off in a minute to a local cafe that has started coffee and crafts, basically you just take along what you like to do . It's my first visit so will see, want some advice on buying a rotary cutter so hope someone there will have some info.
Hugs to all those that need them. I see some of the problems you are facing with health and work issues and feel for you all.Carolbee0 -
Hi Carol.
Chin up lovely lady, your Mum is still with you in your heart. Am thinking of you and I think you are right to keep yourself busy.
The coffee and crafts idea sounds good, let us know what you think.
Hugs

Good morning everyone
Couldn't get to sleep last night so got up and took some painkillers and had one of those weird dreams where you keep waking up then going back into the same dream. Slept until after 9 but still feel tired so am going to try and do a bit of stuff today to tire me out and help me get to sleep tonight without any painkillers.
Decided I had to do something really positive today, DH got paid so I paid off one of our remaining debts completely and paid enough off the remainder to bring our debt under £13,500. This still sounds like a massive amount of money but compared to our original debt of £82,344, it feels great to me. Paying this will mean a really tight month for September but it will encourage me to get back to my OS ways.
DH has some late nights this week and next while college enrolment is going on, so am planning on lots of batch cooking and reverting to my favourite money saving of using half meat and half lentils in curries etc, plus eating lots of vegetarian meals. I am also going to make some single freezer portions for DH to take to work for his tea on late nights and evening classes.
I have received an email saying that ebay has 100 free listings which last until Bank Holiday Monday so am going to get listing, so first job today is going through books I have listed on Amazon and listing those on ebay too. Then checking what is easily accessible that I can photograph and list. I much prefer ebay now allowing buy it now listings as part of the free offers, I think in the past I let too much stuff go for 99p!
A massive thank you to everyone for your wonderful kind messages, this thread really is something very special and I am so grateful for the friends I have met here and on facebook :A
Julie - I hope all goes well for your DD x
Carolbee - I think we always miss our mum, I get very sad around her birthday and mother's day x
Molly - your "friend" is definitely better as an ex-friend, that is just awful x
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

Morning all,
good news from the Baby house in South Africa.... Yesterday the longest residing baby in the baby house was adopted by a Dutch couple.
Little Unathi was born several weeks prematurely and came to the girls on discharge from hospital straight after she was born. She was discovered to have the HIV virus. It has blown into full blown AIDS a couple of times and when it looked as though there was very little hope left with a strong will and a lot of determination and love from my daughter, her partner and the carers in the Baby house she has pulled through.
I'm so glad that Una has been blessed with a family that she deserved right from the start.
A couple of pictures taken of the special day.
Left to right... Daddy and Mummy holding Una, the social worker (in the blue dress) and my daughter outside the court house. Apologies for those of you who have seen the pictures on my Facebook or the Holah Facebook page for repeating the news.
Not much planned for my day. The weather is unpredictable and theres some shockingly big black clouds in the sky so i'll be staying in. I need to do some maintenance on my pc so i'll get stuck into that I think.
Lasagne for tea I think.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Judi I'm not on FB, so thanks for posting the news here. I'm sure those who are on FB won't mind at all - "better told twice than not at all" imho.;)
Julie I hope DD's procedure isn't too unpleasant, and that they can sort out whatever's wrong quickly and easily.
TTFTM how you doing today, mate?Oh, and well done on the debt reduction.:T
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I love seeing the baby house pictures Judi and always check your posts here and have the Holah facebook saved on my favourites too. It's so lovely to see little Una going to her forever home.
I am not too bad LW - trying to be very positive and get some bits and pieces done. Have made a freezer list and meal plan for the next week. Have a magnetic board and have divided this up into shopping lists for various places - Asian supermarket, bargain shop etc. Thanks very much for asking. How did Mr LW get on back at work? x
Ages ago, I applied to be on a Royal Mail survey, I had forgotten about it but they have sent me the stuff through this week. I have to send letters and parcels and log ones that I receive. It seems like I get a book of 12 x 1st class stamps and 4 x 1st class large letter stamps each months plus incentives of shopping vouchers and prize draws. I am going to give it a go and see what it's like. If anyone is interested, this is the link to join:
