This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine too.

Raining here, good job I got the grass cut yesterday afternoon. Put washing out just after 5 for an hour and it was half dry, finishing off on the airers in the conservatory. Must do some ironing some time.

The Killers concert was amazing, I sometimes get disappointed if the group/singer doesn't sound like their cds but they did, what a fantastic singer. It was chilly but dry and the transport was good, just glad we were near the front of the queue for the shuttle bus on the way back!

RR - hope your day yesterday was ok, enjoy your meal out.
TTFTM - You are you. If folk don't accept you for the kind, clever, warm person you obviously are then they aren't worth much. I hope you can get back to your usual chirpy self soon. Many hugs.

Hope the poorlies and fed ups feel better soon and the GCSE grades are the ones needed. Take care. XX

Up early this morning, not out of choice. Got woken by OH going to work and then annoying dog decided she needed out just after he left. Annoying dog may get a bark collar today if she doesn't start behaving herself. I've decided to put them both into kennels on Saturday. The more I think about it the more uncomfortable I feel about locking them up all day, even though my parents were going to go round and let them out. So another 20 euro to fork out.

wm on and not much else done tbh. It's a lot chillier today. Tonight will be mince and spuds. I bought enough mince for 4 of us but in an unexpected twist both dd's have been invited for sleepovers!! So 2 portions for the freezer. I plan to bring the mutts for a really big walk. Although they get out everyday, the walks are short because I don't like leaving dd's for too long.
Not sure what me and OH will get up to. Just probably enjoy the silence. Maybe go out on the bike depending on the weather and how he feels.
I need to go to town to collect oh suit for the wedding.

ttftm I hope you are feeling more positive today.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone,

TTFTM Hugs, it is not what is on the outside that counts but what is in your heart and you are a lovely caring person.

Molly, Hilstep, Gers, RR Hugs for you.

LW 7lb is not overweight, it is a small blip!

Dumpling Hope that you are feeling better today.

Thank you for all the hugs, they have really helped. Situation is not fully resolved but it is all looking a lot brighter.

On the plus side DS is off to Bristol University to do maths, I am so proud.:D

DD1 picks up her GCSE results this morning and then heads off to Leeds Festival, not sure whether the results or the festival worry me the most.

Good luck to everyone picking up results today.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all,

Thank you CAZ for starting today's thread.

A bit overcast here today and very cool. Himself was up early this morning because it is bin day, so they were out by 6.30.

Have to pop out for bread and milk and then later picking up DGS and DD and going for a carvery. He is about 6ft 3 seventeen years old and like a streak of lightening, and he can eat forever, so he will enjoy a carvery, although I have to smuggle a bottle of ketchup in because he eats that with almost everything lol:)

TTFTM I hope you are feeling a little more positive today, we all think you are lovely and kind, I hope you can believe that.

RR I hope everything went well yesterday, I expect you will probably feel exhausted today emotionally but have a gentle hug from me.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all,

Just caught up with yesterday's thread, RR hope yesterday wasn't too bad x
TTFTM I remember feeling very similar after my operation in January. It was like being in a dark tunnel and I just couldn't see the end. It did end, things will get better. Be kind to yourself, lots of gentle hugs x
moorhen glad things have improved slightly, well done to your son, you must be really proud. My son is however in deepest darkest Leeds somewhere at the festival, no contact since I dropped him off yesterday, a friend of a friend tells me he is fine!
I've completely forgotten all the names but big hugs for anyone else feeling unwell or down or having family problems xxx

It's a tough day for me, my DD has to have a procedure today as she has a swelling on her side, possibly kidney or gallbladder related. Camera at bothe ends, poor soul. I will be worried to death all day. She is going private through work so fingers crossed she gets her results quickly and we can all breath easier:(
In other more positive news my middle boy and his gf are moving forward with their pregnancy, she is 16 weeks now and blooming:D
Going to tackle my youngests pit of a bedroom this morning, I may never return:rotfl:
Have a good Thursday all x

    Morning all :)

Another change in weather this morning and it's back to Autum again. It's quite dull outside so no idea if clothes will go out.

I was reading an old thread about the mooncup last night and I'm now thinking of purchasing one. Sounds much more economical, I have never heard of them before.

I am feeling very tired today so no idea how much will get done. If I can just complete the chores on my list I will be happy with that. OH couldn't find the source of the smell under the bath but it didn't seem so bad this morning - either that or we have just got used to it

I need to phone round some glaziers for quotes for the cracked window. I'm really hoping it won't cost a fortune but it's quite a big window  It needs to be sorted though.

I've also been reading the 'Preparing for Winter' threads on here which sounds like a really good idea. There are a few things I can start doing which will make a difference in the colder months.

That's it for now. Need to go and slice bread so the kids can have toast for their breakfast and I could do with another coffee :)

Have a good day all :)

Just a quickly as I have to go for an eye test.
Ttftm- I hope you had a good night and feel a bit better today x small steps x
    Juli67- good luck to DD

Hugs to all in need, sorry if I missed anyone. Will post fully later xx
  • JULIE sending hugs to your daughter, poor girl I don't envy. At least once the procedures are over with you will know what you are dealing with Isn't it wonderful now that doctors can almost know what is wrong without performing any invasive procedure, which has to be good.

Hugs to you as well because i know how worried you will be.

    Hi everyone,

Julie, positive vibes for your daughter. TTFtM, what everyone else said.

Just a quickie as we're off to Yorkshire for a week today. I need to pack still and DH has work to do so we probably won't go till after lunch. DH's nephew, wife and DD have been there for a week so we will see them before they leave tomorrow.

My DD rang yesterday for details for a visa application, turns out she's off to St Petersburg in a couple of weeks for a vodka tour. She thought she'd told me but she hadn't, she goes away so often I can't keep track. It's funny, she got all the spontaneity genes (not from me I might add) while DS got none, he hates change and surprises (no prizes for guessing who he gets that off).

    Have a good day.

Julie, if it's any consolation, results of colonoscopys and endoscopys are immediate. It's basically what they can see or not see. I feel for her though, neither are pleasant but they are not painful. I hope it's nothing serious.
