Just a warning about a new policy they've introduced.
Last week I had an important letter sent that needed signing for which was left next door,
I don't have a problem with this as we all take parcels in for each other.
I was talking to our friendly postman and he told me anything that needs a signature except a special delivery can be signed by anyone now and left there?
all to do with making sure they deliver everything first attempt.
Not sure everyone would like sensitive material going to their neighbours and will the customer who sent the item be happy it may get delivered 3 doors down.

Nothing new, this has always been the case. Signed For just provides a signature from the recipient, SD requires the addressee wherever possible!0

Nothing has changed, signed for (what used to be recorded) is just standard post- it wouldn't be used for anything sensitive as it is not a tracked and guaranteed service. In fact it is pretty rubbish and actually getting a sig is rare.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. For those not happy for neighbours to accept or sign for letters etc can opt out. Details here0

Explains why something I bought from Ebay arrived yesterday requiring signature which was just pushed through the doorNO MORE HANDWASH GLITCHES PLEASE :D0

Perhaps they used to just post signed for, but they never were officially allowed to,
But now they are allowed to delivery it to any neighbour for them to sign,
And my letter contained some sensitive info that I wouldn't like someone signing for if I didn't trust all my neighbours0 -

It's not new been in place for a while now. While it was done with parcels before it was extended to include signed for letters etc "Delivery to Neighbour".When is delivery to neighbour being rolled out nationally?
Following Ofcom approval, Delivery to neighbour was rolled out nationally from Monday 1 October 2012.

As I recall information leaflets were delivered to households prior to the scheme starting (or should have been).
I am opted out but need a replacement sticker, been waiting 10 days so this reminded me to make another request0 -

i've been a posty for quite a few years, nobody in our office ever delivered a leaflet about leaving signed for items with neighbours, leaving anything that needed a signature anywhere other than the addressed item could get you the sack!
it was only a month or so ago we got told we MUST now attempt next doors with them,
its in junes courier magazine

• First-time delivery boosts our
business
• Parcels are not returned to your
office
• There are fewer queues outside
enquiry offices
• It relieves pressure on your office
at peak times
• Fewer redelivery requests leads
to fewer complaints.
DELIVERY TO NEIGHBOUR IS KEY
• Together with the CWU
we’ve issued a national
guideline
• This states that where no
opt-out exists and it’s safe and
secure, Delivery to Neighbour
must be attempted every time a
customer is not in*
• Delivery to Neighbour is now a
Royal Mail standard.
* Special Delivery Guaranteed and
inbound International signature
products are the only ones exempt
from Delivery to Neighbour

Well I suggest you pay attention to what you deliver.
You delivered a D2D on the implementation of leave with neighbour, this includes Signed for & Tracked items.
I suggest you speak to your line manager to clarify the specifics of leave with neighbour.
Im fully aware on the drive behind leave with neighbour. It also reduces P739 complaints.
The national FTD standard is aiming for 90% at least0
