Motorbike hire excess insurance

Hello
A group of us are flying to Portugal in October and hiring motorbikes to tour the country.

Despite searching high and low the hire companies only offer 3rd party insurance and want a 2000 euro excess for any damage etc.

I have looked everywhere for motorbike hire excess insurance like you can get for car hire with no trace.

Does anyone where I might find such an insurance policy?

Thanks in anticipation

Make sure you also check your travel insurance as some travel insurance won't cover medical costs if you use motorbikes (or have conditions attached, such as the cc or your riding experience)

That's the reason for my link above. It's full insurance, to include Motorcycle cover.
Normal travel insurance would be no good at all.

Ah yes so it does (I thought it would be like car hire insurance which doesn't include medical and where you'd rely on your normal travel insurance for medical costs).
  • Nifty,
Thanks for the link, I will call them when they open
  • Called them, They can;t cover the excess. It appears no one does this but their travel insurance is good
    Thanks anyway

Actually the point was their Travel Insurance. Will it cover your trip?
