'once bitten - twice shy'. Before you leap into accepting this offer (however good it might seem) take advice from Trading Standards - not from people on this forum. It seems to me that the Company knows that it has a problem and it doesn't want you to pursue it through official channels. Their projections need to be checked by an independent authority. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hey everyone,
Right, Met with Mr Watts today and went over my issues, He refused to admit that any of the figures quoted were wrong,
If he won't 'admit' his figures are wrong, why does he not explain how they have been calculated?
Two of us(Hengus and myself) have calculated the projected savings using his company's high assumed electricity price inflation of 8.79% see:We are broadly in agreement on the figures. As I stated in my earlier post I make £103.56 inflated by 8.79% over 20 years to be £5,172 - near enough the same as your £5174,90.
Similarly my calculation of £3,500 for LED savings is not that far from your figure of £3,431.82.
Similarly we disagree with My Planet Solar on the electricity saving figure of £103.56 inflated by 8.79% for 20 years
Either we are wrong or My Planet Solar are wrong. I am happy to be shown where I have made a mistake.
As said earlier, I suspect that My Planet Solar have used an incorrect methodology in their spread-sheet i.e.I wonder if they have(incorrectly) used a spread-sheet that calculates savings assuming the £70.08(year 1) and £76.24(year 2) etc etc are left invested earning 8.79% interest??
e.g at the end of year 2 you will have saved £146.32 which earns interest at 8.79% so have £159.18 invested(£146.32 x 1.0879). To this sum you add £82.94 for the third year etc etc???0 -
So what would this take the total generation capacity to? You have to be careful that you don't exceed the regulated amount otherwise you'll have to inform your local DNO and gain their permission to connect it up! Be careful

Assuming 'regular' 250Wp panels then it'll go from 1.5kWp to 3kWp (+6 panels) or 3.25kWp (+7 panels).
The prior approval point for the DNO is 3.68kW (used to be 16amps at a nominal 230V, but it got toughened up as many households are above that voltage).
However, 3.68kW is the output limit, so ..... pedantically .... not a panel/kWp limit, as most 4kWp(ish) systems will run through a 3.68kW capped inverter these days.
[I asked WPD nicely, and got permission for 5.9kW of inverter output.]

Hey everyone,
I think they will be able to fit another 6 possibly 7 panels, This is still more than it would cost from somewhere else but I am just happy to put this whole thing behind me.
Cheers.
Hello again, just a thought, but did they mention anything about changing the inverter, as you'll need a larger unit.
Also, have you applied for FiTs registration yet, as you'll want to change that before it gets registered, but you will need a new MCS certificate with the new system specs.
Also, also, did you already have an EPC, or was one done for you as part of the install, as the larger system will further improve it, so not the end of the world, but an updated certificate would be nice.
I think that'll do, for now.

I guess the OP has been told not to post again or he won't get his £2,000 or additional panels - not that I blame him!0

Lets hope all their customers got a £2k rebate and extra panels!0

Bump for this thread as I've just had a near miss with MyPlanet.
Same as OP, I got a call from a mobile, so thinking it might be a friend, I picked up.
Quick blurb from a young girl who absolutely said it was free with no cost to myself at all. Made an appointment for yesterday evening. Had a follow up call from another guy from MyPlanet of Dartford in which I told him that I live in a dormer style house and probably wouldn't fit that many panels on anyway.
"Don't worry, you should get at least eight on there". Ok, fair enough.
Two people turned up for the appointment from MyPlanet, and even before they came in I told them that my work (self employed) is virtually nothing at the moment and that if this involved me paying for anything then they might as well not come in."No that's fine", although they were immediately were unsure because of the small amount of available roof. Couple of phone calls were made and then they came in and started their spiel.
Basically an hour later they were trying to convince me that if I had the system installed, I would save £50k over the next 25 years.
Then came the crunch. I would have to pay £124 pm for the next ten years to Barclays, but with all the savings I would make, it would only end up costing me £5 pm for the first year or two.
They were amazed when I said no. "But you're throwing away £50k savings over the lifetime". They then made the obligatory phone call to their boss at MyPlanet, to see what they could do.
Reduced the price, but told them as it wasn't free when I was told it would be, I wasn't interested.
I was never going to pay even 1p for this but the thing that really made the alarm bells go was when they were doing their calculation, they were putting in a cost of £9500. For eight panels !!
Wondering if I should email FCA about myPlanetUK of Dartford.0
