hi. I claimed pip in may 2013, finally got awarded october 2013, 2 years up till may 2015. Today I got a letter in the post titled Looking at your personal independance payment again. Im required to fill in the form, along with any supporting info and send it back to them by the 12th september! Now as part of my problems is servere anxiety im now panicking. I ended up really ill when i applied as it too so long and not knowing the outcome, and now it seems less than a year after they actually started paying out i have to go through it again? Has anyone else had this letter? do they stop paying it till its sorted? do i have to see someone like last time? is it just the same as applying in the begining? sorry for the rambled questions x

Hi LL, I had exactly the same through the post - had to send my form back within a month. It went off this week - I was awarded until June 2015 - and only got my decision and award 7 months ago. I had complete meltdown filling out the paperwork again so soon - the thought of another assessment is grim - I have specifically asked for a home visit this time, but will have to wait and see.
I can see this thread ending up as popular as your last one (PIP timescales), as it least it means that their is support for each other as we all get on the merry-go-round again. I think we just have to comply or we lose any of the support that we get. I even considered not bothering renewing, due to the length of time and stress involved last time - hoping recent medical support letters answer their questions for them - as they only reiterate what my ATOS medical report said 10 months ago.0 -
i know it seems very early to be looking at your claim again, but the ides is that a new award will be made before your old award ends, so there is no break in payment.
i assume they are asking this early because of the ridiculous amount of time it is taking to process PIP claims.
if no decision is made before the current claim ens, then benefit would stop until a decision is made. so in the long run, it is better not to risl the award elapsing.
they may require another f2f assessment, or they may not.
it will depends on the evidence you supply plus the information they already hold on you

As explained in earlier post, I had to submit my renewal claim 3 months ago - this is just an update post. I have received a letter from DWP confirming that my PIP award has been renewed until October 2017 without another medical assessment - they have removed the low mobility component but kept the care component at the enhanced rate. Not sure what their reasoning behind removing the mobility - but I do not have it in me to start a MR and would rather go without than suffer the stress, just grateful that it is over for a while and I can just concentrate on getting my life back together. For information - I packed out the renewal form with every medical letter I had, including psychiatric reports, medical appointment schedules, prescription information, absolutely everything I could lay my hands on. All I can say is that it obviously helped, and I hope that this information is of assistance to anybody else facing the renewal process. Fingers crossed for everybody. x0

I mentioned on the other PIP thread, I've had this as well about a month ago, sent back a couple of weeks ago with all my evidence. My award runs until October 2015 but I now have a more chronic and lifelong diagnosis than on my original application and I had more evidence to send this time so fingers crossed it won't be as horrific. I did also mention on my form the severe impact the application and assessment process had on my mental health first time round. We shall just have to wait and see what the outcome is.0

Hopefully yours will come through just as quick as mine, without the need for another medical assessment. I still read the PIP thread and cannot believe that it is still taking so long for people to hear from the assessment providers. For now it seems that they are being relatively straight forward with the renewals - hopefully this will continue. Good luck Dancer and hoping you hear very soon. x0 -
It really is outrageous how long it's still taking. The fact they send out renewals/reviews 12 months in advance shows they aren't on top of things at all, waiting times don't seem to have dropped at all.
I had my Atos letter this morning just confirming they've been sent my paperwork from DWP. So at least I know nothing got lost in the post! Will be interesting to see how many are recalled for assessment and how many, like you, have it renewed purely on paper.
Now, I just wait............0 -
I did not even get a letter from ATOS - so the interesting question will be 'How long will ATOS take?' because their delays assessments just seem to be getting longer for initial PIP claims (from appointments - reports - audit). Makes you wonder how on earth are they going to cope with DLA transfers. Good luck to you and hope it will be far less stressful (and quicker) than the first time. x0

I am totally confused by all the changes and I am posting to see if anyone can help. partner has been on DLA for approx 2 years come january and his original letter said it would be indefinite. I am now reading that all this could change and he will have to be re assesed under PIP. Is this correct please?0
-
That's correct yes. Life time and indefinite awards no longer exist with PIP and he'll be invited to apply the same as everyone else some time between now and 2017. He will then be sent an appointment date for a face 2 face assessment.kindofaverage wrote: »I am totally confused by all the changes and I am posting to see if anyone can help. partner has been on DLA for approx 2 years come january and his original letter said it would be indefinite.
