Slightly annoyed that they may scrap this. I've used the vouchers every month since March, but on at least 50% of those occasions I bought something else in store that I'd have otherwise either not bought or bought elsewhere - definitely spent more than the few coffees were worth!
My next lot of vouchers were due in the post this month and haven't arrived, so that's one existing user clearly been knocked off the list already.
Doubt Waitrose is going to go this way though as my local store has massive banners round customer service and at the coffee machines advertising the deal!New graduate trying to get debt-free.

You have to laugh a woman in front of me was drinking the coffee & shopping/checking out. The checkout person told her off for putting the coffee on the checkout bit as it could spill.0

You assume wrong. (unless you have evidence to support your view?)
If anything, it was small businesses who took issue to it, as they simply couldn't compete. If Tesco or Asda really felt it would be beneficial to the business to give free tea & cake, then of course they would have done it.
read in paper FT I think it was, that some companies thinking of taking them to some monopolies or fair-trade board but didn't say which ones could be coffee shops I suppose.0 -
I wonder, if you have several sugars and milk with the coffee, does it constitute a viable diet? Publish a book called Lose 20kg in a month by drinking free coffee. Walk to Waitrose and John Lewis, and get rewarded for your effort by having a sugary coffee. Look at the size 4 dresses to remind you what you are doing it for.
So, food, exercise and motivation. And it's FREE.0 -
I too am not surprised that it's ended - I just don't think they anticipated the response they'd get; in this day and age with MSE & HDUK they should have really though!
Or maybe that was part of their plan - to advertise it and entice people in with a freebie to withdraw it later after they'd got all these newbies signed up and familiar with their stores?
I find it odd that there aren't any codes on them or you don't have to redeem it with your loyalty card.
I did note all the flyers had been removed when I went in on Saturday.
I've bought a few bits from them over the last 9 months but will have to wait and see if it's enough to qualify for any form of 'treat' - I feel probably not as they have some very loyal customers.
I did used to look forward to my monthly John Lewis freebie on a Saturday morning - the cakes were huge - a lot bigger than those in Waitrose.
If I knew what the minimum spend was to qualify for this treat I'd happily spend a fiver in store each month just to keep it going.
Other than that I only really buy stuff from John Lewis in the sales (usually online to collect in store) or if I need to replace an electrical item as they give you a free guarantee!
Like others have menioned they never ask for your card when you do buy something so there have been a few times where I've bought something and not had it scanned.0 -
. . .

The My JL card isn't accepted in the cafes in the normal course of things.
Have a look at the back of your voucher and you will see that it is coded - with your card number and a QR code which probably also encodes the period of eligibility.0 -
As a JL shopper over many years I do wonder whether this is going to backfire on them . I can imagine that a fair number of JL'converts' brought in by the offer might be a bit hacked off to find that they've suddenly been viewed as somehow not good enough.0

Some people have been selling the vouchers on eBay.0

"Some people have been selling the vouchers on eBay."
Why do a greedy few spoil it for everyone else0
