No Central Heating - Temporary Option

Hi
Had planned to have the defunct Gas Central Heating Boiler and associated Rads replaced before Winter but finances have taken a nose dive due to job loss. Luckily we have an immersion heater for Hot Water but for the winter we are going to be without heating (may be able to finance the New Boiler etc next summer). Wondering if there are any Electric or other suggested Heaters etc that can be rented for the Winter?
Look forward to advice
Thanks ;-)

  • my sister used to have a couple of delongi convecting oil rads which worked well they were on wheels to aid moving, only around £80 each quite efficient on electric costs, that and an extra T shirt under your jumper and hot water bottle in bed ot night might be enough unless its a big old draughty house.

Simple convector heaters can be bought pretty cheap. You can find the same heater with different name badges stuck on at wildly varying prices, so shop around.

I would be surprised if you can rent a heater for the winter cheaper than just buying a few cheap ones.

Be aware that there is little or no difference in the efficiency of different types of heater, despite what the adverts would lead you to believe. Also, electricity is about 3 times as expensive as gas, so use the heaters as little as you can.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
