Want to surprise OH. He always ends up with the reject laptop which has usually been DD, then mine!!! Anyway now it's broke and not worth repairing,

I have a max budget of £300 but would be more than happy spending much less than this :D

He uses it for his bike forum, Ebay, You tube, podcasts, email and general browsing/shopping.

I will use it for FB, Twitter, reading newspapers and playing the odd game.

I think a tablet might more meet his needs but not sure he will like it but if he doesn't then I could have it and give him my laptop (oops 3rd hand again).

Don't have a clue where to start with tablets or laptops specs.

OH his eyesight isn't brill so he won't like too small a screen. He uses 15" laptop at present which is fine.

Poppy I would recommend going with an Intel based laptop purely it will give your more power for your buck.

Any of these will do and a better spec then the toshiba it just wont be white.

Out of them i would prefer the ASUS or Toshiba. Die to reliability and how robust they are. All will do the everyday stuff.

There is also the option of a 17.3" screen within budget.

Sounds more like, you are looking for something for yourself.

When you forums, does that include a lot of typing. IF so then a laptop would be ideal, yes you can decent keyboards for tablets but not the same just yet, they will get there.

From what you are saying, I would highly recommend getting a Tablet. A Tablet is great for the uses you would be using it for and the battery life on Tablets nowadays are very long lasting!

Plus, a Tablet is great to have around the house just to pick up and go. With a laptop, you have to start it up/shut it down each time you want to use it.

If he has eyesight problems then I don't think a tablet is the way to go. Yes, you can increase font size using CTRL+, but it's a right pain.

Let's hope that you didn't hold off...as that would have been incredibly....let's say, short-sighted.
    There are none left.
I don't know why people make such a drama about ordering something, when it can be returned under DSR if they change their mind.
