How can I tell if my landlord has put my house on the market?

Had a strange one today. Virgin's home moving team called me up today to discuss my relocation plans. This was the first I've heard of it and was quite a surprise. I guess my landlord has put the house on the market without informing us.
Virgin said they learned of this through public record. I'm curious to find out if I can access this information myself before I confront my landlord.
Does anyone know how I might go about finding this info?
Very depressed to have to start thinking about moving again, hope its a mistake.
Thanks

If you dnt want to ask landlord, then rightmove would be my first port of call. Add an email alert for your postcode0

Just cos your LL is selling your home, does'nt mean you have to move. Are you in contract?0

Thanks for your suggestions. Its not on rightmove. I'm out of contract, so I guess its rolling with 1 month notice.
I will contact the LL, but I'd prefer to know before if theres a way.0 -

Yes two months for landlord.
Who pays the virgin bill?0 -
Virgin said they learned of this through public record.
Are you sure the call was actually from Virgin? Even if there was a public record that accurately identified your property I find it hard to believe that Virgin have a team of people scouring such records in the hope of finding out that a customer is planning on moving before said customer contacts them themselves.0 -
It will be harder to sell without advertising its for sale - unless he has a mate who is buying it.
Keep an eye on Zoopla, Rightmove and the local paper. If its for sale then people will want to see it, they will need your permission to show them round.
You could change the lock to ensure no one just "pops in" when you are not there.0 -
By initial reaction is to think that wither this was not Virgin at all, but some attempt at a scam, or that it was Virgin but that they got their wires crossed and it's actually a neighbour of you who is moving, or the last tenant but three...
I would keep a very close eye on your bank accounts etc in case it is linked to any kind of scam.
However, rather than 'confronting' your landlord, would it be possible to raise it with them not as a confrontation or demand to know what is going on but simply as a query "I had a weird call from Virgin, who seemed to think I was moving - I'm not planning to move and they were a bit evasive when I asked them why they thought I was - do you know of any reason why they would think that?"All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Thanks for all the good advice. I'll deffinatly give the LL a ring this evening. After googling the number of the guy it seems to come from a property development/management firm although he gave a virgin media email address. I'll let you know what I learn. Fingers crossed its a scam - I hate moving house0

It sounds to me like a cold call. I would ignore it.0
