BT Cancellation Fee

I signed up to BT Broadband Option 1 in 2009, which had a one year contract and I now wish to move to another provider, but I have been told that I will have to pay a cancellation fee of £30. I was not aware of this when I signed up and I there is nothing about this in the documentation that I received. I would be grateful to hear from someone else who has been through this and to find out what the outcome was.

The £30 cancellation fee is a cease supply charge.

You are only liable to pay this if you call BT to cancel.

If you are moving to another provider, then do not request to cancel.

Instead, ask for a MAC code and give this MAC code to your new provider and they will take over supply of your broadband.
  • LazyTyper,

Many thanks for your message. I am really pleased to avoid the £30 charge!
