scam????

not sure if this site deals with this, but I have just put my van on autotrader on sun, early hours of monday morning I got an email of someone wanting to buy with out seeing, but needed more pictures, so duly did it, happy with them, with a lot of emails back and forth, he has transferred by paypal shipping fees and money for van into my bank, BUT paypall wont release the money until I pay the western union transfer fee, anyone else heard of this.


I know its a scam, but maybe a warning to others


just going to email him again to tell him to stop wasting my time.

Paypal won't take payment by western union, and if the money is in your paypal account it's available. So it sounds like a fake paypal site too.

As said; cash in person.

this is the last email he sent me



I have already made the payment. The money was transferred from my
paypal account to your bank account and the money has been deducted
completely from my account and being held by paypal waiting for you to
send the agent's fee before they release the fund into your bank
account. PayPal also sent me an email and notified me that they have
sent you payment confirmation emails in regards to the payment which i
made,making you to know that you need to go and send the shipping
agent's fee first before they credit your bank account with the full
money. so please check your email very well, may be the paypal
confirmation emails went to your Junk folder/box. Do let me know as
soon as you have done the transfer to my shipping agent. Waiting to
read from you soon.

Don't ever accept Paypal for a large item like a car because even if the money is genuinely in your account now, the buyer can cliam it back later by saying he never received the goods, or they weren't as described.

Tell him you will only take cash and be very careful about refunding the amount allegedly in Paypal; you might refund him and then he somehow cancels the original transfer. Ask paypal about it too before you do anything.

As you suspected a scam, it's a pity it has gone this far but at least you haven't lost any money...yet!

My car is on gumtree and minutes after it went on got a text message asking us to e mail them if car still for sale. I googled the e mail address given and others had also been contacted by this person and it was a scam. The following day had another text from someone, again googled the mobile number and was able to see this person was a trader. My suggestion is to google any info you have on the person contacting you.

Interesting that he doesn't tell you to check paypal. It also leaves you wondering why he didn't pay the fees?

just done that and his name came up, my bank has been alerted as I very foolishly gave him my account detail tut tut, never done this type of thing before but you live and learn, one thing I would not of given any money over

There is no original transfer, it is a scam.
