Sorry to speak my mind here but if it was my OH i would not be on here and posting on other threads  . I would be getting to the hospital by any means possible.

At worst it's a broken arm though - he's not dying. And she's trying to phone him, so probably trying to keep her mind occupied in between so she doesn't freak out.

Edit - sorry, that sounded like I was making light of Ste's injury - I'm not, honestly, just saying there's no reason why you shouldn't be posting on other threads.

Try and calm down. Ummmm I can't really think of anything other than that law can be really unhelpful.... If I was anywhere near you I would try to help even if it was just picking up the car seats.

have you tried calling Ste again? Although I guess he would have to turn his mobile off. How about calling the hospital and asking to speak to him?

What about Bandraoi's suggestion? A bit of a faff, but it would be a way of getting there? But maybe try and ring the hospital first to make sure it's going to be worth going down there, as it could just be a sprain and they could send him home with a bandage.

    Hope you are okay. (((hugs)))

Sorry. I just can't take it when I'm sat here going out of my mind with worry and I get someone coming on here and criticising me and questioning my intentions! I can't get through on his mobile.. the hospital is constantly engaged... MIL can't leave work.. SIL can't leave work and there's noone else so looks like I've go no other choice than to sit here and wait for news thinking the worst.. :(

  • I hope Ste is ok IA. I appreciate that it might not be absolutely serious but my thoughts are with you.

I am sure YM will re-read his/her comments and realise they were inappropriate.

From the sound of it, if his arm is swollen, at worst he has broken it (6 weeks to mend and he should be ok to work if you drive him there) or he has dislocated it (my OH has recently done this to his finger and Ste will be fine) But I would try not to worry about it.

OH didn't tell me about his accident (he dislocated it in 2 places and had 4 stitches where it broke the skin ) as he knew I would just worry and there was nothing I could do.

    He'll be fine I promise.

IA, I am pretty sure that the law regarding car seats is that in an emergency, and as a one off that can be proved, it is acceptable for you to not have the car seats.

For example, if you have to ask someone else to pick up the kids from school, they can travel in that other car without car seats because it could not have been reasonably foreseen that this would have happened, and so impractical to get car seats in the other car, if that makes sense.

On that basis, I think that although not ideal, if you did get a taxi, you should be able to travel without the car seats. Would involve holding on to K presumably, but might be worth a go to get them to where you need to be?

Perhaps a call to the local police station might clarify the car seat thing so you can feel comfortable with it?

    Hope all is ok x

  • sorry Ste just called...sounds like he has seriously f**ked up his elbow as he could hardly talk, they'd taken him to cannock hospital who've said to go to stafford. His phone's at home which is why I couldn't reach him.. he's on his way now and his work mate is going to stay with him and then bring him back, and take me to pick up the car...
and it's all my fault as he was out buying me an extra xmas present!!! :wall:
