Do you have a neighbour who would watch the girls just for a little while so you can pick the car up?

    He'll be fine.

Can you call the hospital and ask them to get him to call you (if that makes sense!)

He'll be okay hun, try not to panic. Still trying to think of a solution for you. How much would a taxi be to where the car is? I know it would be spending money but this probably qualifies as a good reason.

Get your mums partner to go to the hospital, get the keys off Ste, (and ring you while he's there), go to your car and get the seats bring them to you. Put the seats in his car, put the girls in the seats, go to Ste's work and pick up the car.

At that point at least you're mobile and have everything you need.

Then call into Ste on the way home, maybe bring him a snack and say hello.
See how he is and how long he's likely to be, it'll put your mind at rest.
Then go home, settle the girls to watch a dvd or something and wait for your MIL to get off work.
  • Sorry to speak my mind here but if it was my OH i would not be on here and posting on other threads  . I would be getting to the hospital by any means possible.

Or if you know any of your neighbours even a little bit, could any of them run you to your car? Better than leaving the girls with someone you don't really trust? You'd be amazed what help people are willing to give in an emergency!

or they might have car seats they can lend you to put in your MIL's partners car or a taxi for that matter.
