That is probably why my electric is so high, I use mine all the time.

Stick timers on your plugs for washer/dryer/dishwasher and use an economy 7 tariff at night?
  • I find that even if I just put the washing out for a little while outside when it is cold I still get it dried quicker. SO I would suggest sticking it out a while (even just 30-60 mins) and then TD and you should be able to reduce the dry time. Mind you I have been known to have stiff as a board jeans in winter when I haven't brought them in before the frost LOL

don't worry it's only going to be used on a 'neccessity' basis as at the moment we're not getting anything dry! The radiators aren't on enough and it's too cold for anything to go on the line!

My 'necessity' is 2-3 loads a day although when it was broken last year we seemed to manage drying on the radiators - amazing.

I only tumble my towels and bedding, but have to admit to sometimes giving up and putting t shirts in and stuff when they just won't dry.
It's a fine line to walk between saving money on the heating bill and getting the washing dry. I do always try and put it on the timer though which helps me with my guilt lol.
Hope the one you've got works wonderfully for you.

Well with 5 people's washing and drying to get done, I run out of radiators! I have an airer, but in the winter the only way to keep on top of it is to tumble everything that will tumble!

What do you mean about putting it on timer? My tumbler has a timer on it. Is it the same kind of thing?

I always spin the washing again in the washer to save on drying time.

Not sure if one negates the other but it does mean the dryer is on less

Some have built in timers, failing that one of the cheapo ones to turn the lights on when on holiday does it - it's something like if you use 20-25% of your electricity at night it works out cheaper to be on economy 7 you pay more during day but lot less at night - so set the machines to do stuff at night if house doesn't get too noisy. The times vary

if you get up early and have elctric shower it can make a difference.

I once lived in a house where the timer was fubared and we got 7 cheap hours 5pm-12pm :D
  • Thanks - we don't have a shower here, only a bath.

Timers don't work on clockwork tumbledryers....what I mean is the clockwork timer on the TD has run out before the electric timer kicks in
