    Hi IA,

I'm a bit of a lurker but feel your car pain... Anyway, just wondered, rather than putting any repair costs on Vanquis, would it not be better to use what you've saved for the debt this month? In the long run I'd imagine this would work out slightly cheaper.
well it depends how much it is. At the moment we only have £119 spare that isn't already allocated for bills etc. Got £250 coming from paypal but that won't clear til friday.

Lucks not going your way today Sarah, but I'm sure it will get better and at least it happened with only Steve in the car and not you and the girls.

On a another note I watched In the Night Garden , with my 2 year old for the first time this morning, what the heck is that all about then?????:D

I think it only makes sense if you a) are 2 years old, or b) grew up in the 60's :D

  • Chin up mate! I feel for you!

I took my car in for a MOT today. I though it might need a new tyre and the £30 for the MOT......

They rang me 10 mins ago telling me I've been driving a deathtrap around for the last couple of months. Its going to cost £426 + VAT to sort out. The cars only worth £500!

    2 new tyres
    1 wheel bearing
    Steering rack
    Rear brake pads.
    New exhaust.

Pre-lbm I'd have been straight down the dealers picking out a new car, but I'm going to have to get it done and put my DFD back a couple of months. Pain in the rear, but these things happen. I'm lucky I have just under £100 in my car tax/insurance savings account. I'll have to use that and be more creative over the next coupld of months.

We have just moved house so I could really do without the bill. Stupid thing is I had a weekend away (fallen off the wagon - v v cheep!) last weekend because I was feeling like I had turned a corner with the debt.
    Starting debt @ LBM: £8436.51 (8/5/7)

I know it must be very disappointing and frustrating, but sadly these things do happen, especially with cars more is the pity. But try and focus on what you have achieved this year - you have come such a long way in so very short a space of time that this will, at worst, only be a temporary hiccup and at best may be nowhere near as bad as you think.

The thing to take from it is that when you are debt free, channel some of the money you won't be paying on debt repayment into a savings account to cover car expenses and ultimately a replacement car. Knowing you, you're probably only a couple of months away from being there anyway.

It's no consolation I know, but our car broke down at the weekend - new alternator or something - its with the garage now being fixed!

Keep thinking positive, you'll get past this with no difficulties.

  • Hey Babe,
I'm afraid I am going to have to side with BB here-
Being DF would have been nice, but it is a time restraint you inflicted on yourself. Cars have problems, that is the nature of the beast. Focusing on the negatives gives them energy that they don't deserve-look at the positives! Ste is fine, you got new spark plugs and you are all healthy.
Ok? ok. Bossy Bunny insists on you taking a bloomin' chill pill and stop going on about it!
    Jeez.
(I love you, you do know that right?)

Um, they want you to pay them £50 for being too crap to figure out what's up with the car? Think I've found a new career.

Don't forget that doesn't include, sucking air through your teeth and scratching their head with a puzzled look on their face charge :D
