Definately get it back.... its ur money, so u should get the interest on it, not ur utility company!
Ref the eBay packaging, when u go to Tesco, look in the apple/pear boxes for bubble wrap, as most of them have at least two layers in - thats where I get all my bubble wrap from (Sainsburys tho). They also usually have a fair bit of brown paper that u can use for stuffing in the boxes too.

I always phone them for a refund, you should have the phone number on a bill or get it from the website. Just be prepared to hold for a while or wait to be diverted to India!
