S'ok the devil is the small print. (Quick, Sarah make up some small print).

I'd interpret it that when she said he could have *any* TV he wanted when debt free and it was saved for in advance..... she meant when *totally* debt free - if it's just unsecured debt free that's only *any reasonable* TV.... the any TV might have to wait until the car's gone.

How do you look at a telly that big, how do you get physically far enough away to see all of it, or do you make it show the picture in just a small part of it and call it a black wall? I'm going back to my cave and wittling my sticks.
  • umm my 2ps now :rotfl: you do relise 3k is a new car ~ a sizable deposit of a house ~ prob 1/3 of steve annual income ~ a whole new kit for your band ~ savings for ash and k?

i just think a tv of that size is over the top if you are in debt or not, i think you have more pressing/important things you would like to spend the money on?

Hi IA, Sorry to but in re new TV but I just want to put my 2p worth in! Please advise Ste to STAY AWAY from any TV that has got built in Freeview.

The main problem with integrated TV's is that they are basically very nice televisions with a freeview box built in to them. The technology in Freeview boxes is changing so quickly that if you spend £700+ on an integrated TV within a year I can guarantee that although the TV itself will still be fab, the freeview technology will be outdated. Have a look for the same model without Freeview built in, and you'll save at least £100. Then grab your freeview box seperately (currently available from as little as £10!!) and plug it in... then if you need to replace the freeview box in a year it's easy to do.

Also, both TV's are HD ready- is this something that's important to you? Please bear in mind that at the moment the only way to watch HD is via satellite. At present, the only company producing the HD boxes are good old Sky, and they're charging a fortune for them! It's unlikely that HD television will be available through an aerial for several years, if ever, so unless you are planning on subscribing to Sky HD channels then I would stick with a non HD ready one- again it's cheaper.

Hope you don't mind me butting in! Any questions re TV's and digital stuff please feel free to PM me- but get the info while you can... I too have a job interview this week...
HD is important for Ste because he loves his games, especially his xbox. Having gone from a HD tv to a normal crt one you can REALLY tell the difference as far as the xbox is concerned... I never appreciated it before!
Good point about the freeview though.. plus if we're going with freesat the inbuilt freeview is pointless..

HD ready doesn't mean it necessarily shows in HD.
Are you sure it's not CRT versus TFT differences you are seeing.
  • Both tv's are gorgeous! If a little expensive.... The good thing is tho, in a few months time when u've become debt free and saved, if Ste still wants the same one, it'll probably be a lot cheaper!
I completely relate to the whole xBox/HD thing tho....we have a pre-LBM HD ready tv, and playing the xBox on it is fantastic.... then when we take it to the in-laws so OH's DS1 can play it, it looks pretty naff..... call me a snob, but one u get used to it, its hard to go back!

    PS - How's Halo3? Worth the purchase?

Gods knows.. all I know is it looks crap compared to the old one... I can completely understand now why Ste is so keen to get a decent tv back ASAP. Good for both of us though because the quicker we pay off the debt the quicker we can treat ourselves to a nice tv. :)
