Hiya IA, Just to let you know I posted the voucher out to you! Hope they will accept it! Didn't have time to pop a little note or anything in it...as we were rushing to get to the harry potter movie..but wanted to make sure it got in the post box before today's collection!

I love that members have unused m&s vouchers and they've never spent them cos the shop is soo price:D y. I can't think of a better way to spend them, than on IAs cake. :T
If you ask on o'style re food ideas I'm sure you'll get loads of ideas. Some of the things we've done when we've entertained but been skint.
made chilli using 3lbs of mince, tomatoes, beans, onion and chilli powder or a mix serve with a selection of any or all of following garlic bread/crusty bread/jacket potatoes/rice.
made HM coleslaw white cabbage, onion, carrot -chop all up finely or grate, enough mayo to taste.0 -
I don't often post here but I love reading your diary everyday IA.
Re party food, could you either make it an afternoon party, where you just serve tea & cake (OK, shandy & spritzers if you really must!;))? If they want to stay through the evening thay can take you to the pub! Of if not, then I agree with other posters, ask everyone to bring a dish or bottle to share, for a 1st anniversary party I think this would be perfectly acceptable to ask! So that you don't get 25 quiche, make a list of food and ask everyone to bring something specific from the list and tick off as you go. If you really want to self cater, then I honetly think a roast, like a joint of pork, served hot carved into rolls (you don't actually need a big joint this way), or a big dish of chilli & rice as Spendless suggests, with the cake as pudding would be the cheapest & tastiest option. Whatever you do, don't go for a BBQ (with this weather:rolleyes:!) as it ends up being about the most expensive thing you can do...all that meat!
Good luck & keep posting!

Just caught up on these few pages at least! Keep up the good work! Sounds like you are well on the way for the M&S cake! Dont have any M&S vouchers but you would be more than welcome to them if I did! Re the party Lillibets idea is a great one - its called a pot luck supper & they are great. Not only do you take some of the effort out of preparation but its so much cheaper to arrange! Keep us updated!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
