Hi Spud (In case IA is busy) usually new phones will come with a USB cable that you can plug into the computer- this should let you move music and pictures between the two and sync the phone with your pc. Which phone is it?

    Aww thanks shell.

It's the Nokia 5200. The only cables in the box are the charger and a set of headphones.

From what I can see it's possible to use a micro SD card with this phone which is one option to transfer files. (This is what I use to transfer all my files from phone to PC). You can also use bluetooth, but this would rely on another mobile phone having the data on it already so probably not what you're looking for. The other possibility is a 'Nokia Connectivity Cable DKE-2' which according to the Nokia website is a type of mini USB cable which can be used with this phone- but isn't supplied with the phone for some reason
Which network is it on and I'll see if I can find some more information for you?

    It's on Orange hun.

To be honest, I didnt even think about cables etc. It was the phone she really wanted and I managed to get it for £36, over £20 cheaper than most places.

Its a PAYG by the way, not on contract.

Fair play you've had a good deal on that one! It's a bit naughty IMHO that some phones that have the camera and MP3 on them come without the stuff you need to move sound and pics across- the same happened to me with my last phone. I ended up having to get EVERYTHING I wanted on it via bluetooth.

If there's a cd with the phone then it might be worth you picking up the cable that I mentioned (I cut and pasted it- I think it was a DKE2) as this would be a really easy way to connect the phone with your PC.

Your other option is a Micro SD card (which according to Nokia website is supported by that phone). I use one of these and a little USB keyring/pen things.

TBH either option is as good as the other- it's a case of pricing them up and seeing what's available. If you're near an Orange shop their staff are usually pretty clued up on all the phones whether they're PAYG or contract- just don't buy anything there as the mark up is astronomical!! Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday.

    Thanks shell.

It seems I might need both, or am I getting confuddled. The SD card wont get her CDs onto the phone. I didnt get a CD with the phone and I havent a clue what bluetooth is :rotfl:

I'm sure she will have a lovely day - she will definitely be shocked that's for sure because I've told her we cant afford it. I've been on pins all afternoon - she's out, so I've been charging up her phone (and checking her Mika CD is OK ;) ) Every time the bloomin dog barks I have to hide everything just in case it's her coming in.

There should be instructions how to do it in with the phone... normally you have either a USB cable or a memory card like shell has said..

Other than that I've not got the foggiest! lol!
