This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine too.

Morning All
Welcome tracyk.
Sistercas - Hope DB continues to recover, so quick!
TTFTM - Hope you're ok.
The sun is shining! Hope it stays good today as I am going to see The Killers tonight and it's outside! I can cope with the cold, just hope it doesn't rain.
Yesterday turned out to be quite nice, although not as warm as it has been. The washing dried so I was a happy bunny. Managed to take my free table outside to try out the new sander too, much easier than doing it by hand!
Salad made for lunch, had lo sunday lunch for tea last night and it was really good. Will just grab something tonight before I go out, DD is meeting friends in Glasgow for something to eat as she's going to the concert too. No doubt I will be giving her a lift home.
Hope you are all well, hugs to all, especially those recovering/feeling down. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
My mom was saying the same thing the other day when my dad goes camping tru
I left the chicken stock in the slow cooker overnight last night so the kitchen greeted us with a lovely aroma this morningI'm going to try making the spinach soup busiscoming2's OH made. Hopefully it will taste nice

First off though, kids are at their summer clubs and I have a dentist appointment to refill a tooth. I hate the dentist but I seem to be a regular at the moment
I have a few chores I want to get done today, energy willing, and can't decide whether to hang out the washing or put it on the rack as we've had a fair amount of rain overnight.
Hope you all have a lovely day2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Morning all
Ttftm- I hope it all went well and you are comfortable this morning
Jihmd666- good luck at dentist
Welcome to all newcomers!!
DH and I going to my aunties funeral today. It seems that funerals are the only times I see my cousins now. Realised yesterday my black jacket is at the dry cleaners so will pick it up en route.
Had a lovely jumbled dinner off all odds and ends, so nice not to waste stuff. My strawberry runners were ready to snip off mother plant, and got lots of tomatoes from garden but they aren't that flavourful so won't grow the same variety again.
Dropped DD passport form at Drs yesterday then they rang to say my Dr is off for two weeks! I will have to try dentist instead.
Planning to do more washing this afternoon and dust the ceilings - suddenly noticing cobwebs!
Have a lovely day all, hug for those in need xx0 -
Good Morning,
Just woken up and taken my tablets, I have to wait an half hour before eating so thought I would post!
Tru, home grown potatoes sound nice.
Camelot, enjoy the concert.
JLH, good luck at the dentist.
I am aching today after a busy day yesterday getting the house ready for going on the market. I have another busy day today and then I can take it easy from tomorrow.
I must get dinner prepared earlier today as the last few days I have ran out of energy and have rang hubby asking him to bring a meal in with him, so our grocery bill is somewhat large this month
Take care all.

Good morning everyone
I slept in this morning and missed hubby going off to work. I was just so wiped out though that I needed the extra hour.
Lots of grey cloud around this morning both inside and outside so I'll make this short and sweet. I have a lovely friend coming for a coffee this afternoon so hopefully I would have cheered up a bit by then.
I'm still in two minds whether to have another dog. I miss my Sam so much still but I keep thinking that in a few weeks I will be here on my own again all day and the company would be lovely, but it's the expense of pet insurance and vet bills that is putting me off too. Oh well, I shall keep pondering it.
Welcome to the newbies, lovely to 'see' you. Hope everyone has a nice day, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Nice day here again, I got so much done yesterday I washed all of dd's tops, where she had them all stuffed into that old chest of drawers they were all a bit stale smelling so I washed them to freshen them up, it took about 5 wash loads ! that girl has far too many clothes !
I also picked the plums (I left some for the birds) and the rhubarb which I then stewed, I made a huge crumble for pud last night and put loads in the freezer. I also did a roast lamb dinner, it was so nice being home for the day !
Today I am going to start washing her jeans etc, and I am going to give upstairs a good going over.
Might go out somewhere later with my sis who also has the week off.
Have good days all
TTFTM hope you are ok xx0 -
Morning tru and all who follow,
TTFTM-hope you are recovering ok from your op xx
Woke to torrential rain this morning, though its looking a bit brighter now but I left Lylas lead on the line yesterday, washed that as well as her so its sopping now .DH & DS up early and gone as they are working out of town for the next couple of weeks, so I've a quiet house too, only DS1 who works from home and he's no bother, and makes me a brew when he pops down for one.
Got some food shopping in when DH came home so cupboards are full for a while.Did anyone watch the Tonight prog last night about families not cooking much anymore? Very interesting I thought, especially when AldoZilli showed a group of children how to cook a meal. They werent sure of the names of some veg.Took me back to my days working at school,we used to do that as part of a lesson for our Reception classI'd go in loaded with various veg.
I think I'll put the slow cooker on,I got some stewing beef yesterday, feels a lot cooler today so that might go down well. We've realised over the last couple of days that we have a coat issue since we moved here,in that there are quite a few missing so they might have ended up in DHs storage unit at the farm, need to have a rummage when he gets chance.
Got confirmation from the solicitor yesterday that completion can take place at the end of next week for our renovation project house. At first they wanted the week after as the vendors are away and they said they wont have time to clean, but we said we're not bothered-walls are going to be knocked out, bathroom & kitchen too so cleaning would be a waste of their time really.
Definitely an inside day today, might even get the ironing out - The landlord has a contract with BG to service the gas appliances, and its due so I rang them and they are coming on Thursday. The boiler is in the utility room and so is the ironing mountain,so I'd better clear it then the engineer can actually get near the boiler.
Camelot enjoy the concert-hope it stays dry for you.Raining again here in the NW,will have to put my waterproof on in half an hour to take the pooch out.
Have a good day all xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

I've done this many a time peonyI'm trying to batch cook for the freezer at the moment so that when I know energy levels are low there will be something in. Mind you there's also been times when OH just fancies something different so the freezer meals don't get used. Hope your energy levels are enough to get you through your house sale

:hello: mornin' all - heavy overcast sky here at the moment, but can see 'silvery clouds' on the skyline. Maybe that's a promise of a much brighter day to come - hope so!
Thanks for starting today's thread, tru. I don't think it's at all bad that you're looking forward to the 'Man-tru's' going on theirnext weekend. I'm sure your joy is purely due to a keen interest in their 'personal enjoyment of said trip'
.
TTFTM - hope all went well at the hospital appointment yesterday-
for you and anybody else who needs them.
Hope all went well at the doc's, Butterfly Brain.
Did you enjoy your gammon, busiscoming? - I'd definitely eat it, though I'd 'sniff' it first. Just remember that meats in plastic wrappers CAN have a bit of a 'musty smell' when first unwrapped - best to leave them a few minutes before making your decision. On the other hand, you KNOW when Gammon/Bacon/Pork etc are off.
Great foraging/harvesting/preserving, Hester, Candlelight and 'WantAnOrange' :T.
Sounds like you had a fabulous day out, Hilly -to your dgs.
Great work with the Plum Sauce, snoozer .
Hope you managed to sort out dd's hair, caz - sounds like it could be painful for her.
Great job with 'stinky dog Lyla', RosyRed! Wonder if it was 'Fox Pee' that she found - my Sandy used to love that stuff.
:hello: and welcome, tracyk - good to see another new poster on this thread. I love making freezer lists - just not very good at updating them
.
Sorry to red that your Mum is 'playing up', Judi - Mum did this regularly in the Ward. No 'cup hurling', but lots of naughty, full-volume comments about other patients - especially those with Dementia.
 again, Julie - well done at your weightloss and good luck with your organiser.
Great day out, jlhmd - but  at the uniforms. At least that's over and done with for now - time for a couple of 'nsd's'.
Had a good day with younger sis yesterday and then finished up with dgs1 (13) to look after for the rest of the day - unfortunately DD forgot to pack his medication for the night. He didn't get last night's dose and there's none for this morning - thank goodness he's going home and I've not got him for the remainder of today . Took him to the Crem with me to hand the CD's in and then we went for lunch. He's just decided to get up so will have to go and get his breakfast in a few minutes.
Finally finished the baby blanket that I was working on - quite pleased with it, though it's NOT a pattern that I'd have chosen to do myself.
Plans for today include -- Feed dgs1 and make sure that he has a shower - profound aversion to soap/water
.
- Have a shower myself and get ready for my extra shift in the CS shop this afternoon.
- Do a tray of 'Roasted Veg' to mix with some tinned toms to experiment a Veg Lasagne with.
- Roast Pork Salad for tonight's evening meal.

Good morning all,
TTFTM i hope your op went well yesterday and you are not too uncomfortable - gentle hugs.
WM on at the moment, although there isn't a great deal of washing, but it is quite windy this morning so thought I would take advantage of that.
Not going anywhere today, just pottering around. Windows in sitting room need cleaning, so as soon as I am dressed I will do that.
I also want to plummet the depths of the freezer to see exactly what is there, and tidy it up a bit.
It will be gammon, jacket potato and salad this evening, and possibly beans on toast for lunch(favourite snack for Himself)
Hugs to all poorlies and anyone who would just like one.
Tru thank you for starting the thread
Have a good day
