Sky have been in this business for much longer than Talktalk, and even so, there are always people complaining about Sky's poor customer service, and there have been various repeating and "predictable" faults with its equipment over the years.

The clincher, though is that Sky+ HD is a fair bit more expensive than Talktalk.

I don't know whether the TT YV box can record Sky channels - it's not relevant to my sub & how I use the box. I'm happy with TT, and the YV box; and I'm happy with the resolution TT CS came up with when I moved and my broadband was no longer fast enough to support TV.

If you can be bothered to read the link what I provided then you will know TalkTalk (You View) customers can't record sky boosts channels.

TalkTalk only transmits them through the internet, the link is the proof and I should know this because I had You View until last month.

I tried recording 24: Live Another Day when it was on Sky1 and this is the message I got when I pressed the R button on my remote:

Message (You can't record a internet channel)

See, proof is there, you only can watch Sky channels which is annoying so I cancelled my You View and moved to Sky :)

Fair enough, although I wouldn't be surprised if TT had wrong info on their website. FWIW, I specifically said I didn't know whether Sky channels could be recorded or not. There's nothing about them being "internet" channels that makes them intrinsically unrecordable - it's a limitation of the TT service.

I think anyone who's a major consumer of TV will probably want Sky or VM. TT's Sky boost (or whatever they call it) is more of a taster, I would say. But it's cheaper than Sky or VM - you get what you pay for.

But of course, this thread is about YV on Talktalk... so I'm not really sure why we are talking about Sky at all.

Nice to see you back GG, same old attitude I see :rotfl:

If you could be bothered to read Cornucopia's post you would see they are not bothered about being able to record the sky channels so probably wasn't interested in reading your link. ;)

    Indeed.

The YV box is *perfect* for my no-TV Licence viewing habits, and as such my current offer from TT is this:-

    - Unlimited Fibre BB for £13.50pm
    - Kept YV box from previous cancelled contract
    - Broadcast channels all deleted from the box

To take Sky would cost significantly more, including an extra £12pm for a TV Licence.

Each to their own, You View might be perfect for you but for others, its cheap and rubbish.

Sky might be expensive but with Sky you get more on demand content then with TalkTalk.

To be honest, I don't think sky is that expensive because my Sky monthly bill is £42.50 as I only got sky TV with them.

When I first joined sky, I thought my bill would be a lot then that but I am happy with that amount :)

    1. Any YouView box will work via any ISP. Whether new or second hand. They are interoperable (Google it).

    2. Recording of the internet live TV TalkTalk Boosts went live this week. BTs have been recordable for over a year.

    3. There are over 40,000 items of catch up and/or library content available for free on YouView. How much does one has to pay Sky to access that amount of on demand content?

    4. Everyone can read and theres no need to be so insulting.

So, add £12 for a TV licence and £20pm for Fibre BB and you're talking about £75 compared to my £13.50 + discounted line rental.

You're wrong, it hasn't gone live as I have just looked on TalkTalk forums and nothing has been announced so why you lying?

Are you working for TalkTalk and are you trying to get a customer to sign up?
