Wren Kitchen Quote

Hi,

Just this weekend I have placed a deposit on a Wren kitchen, I am well aware of all the complaints going back and forth, i'm hoping as I am sorting the fitting myself I am hoping they will just get the delivery right and there won't be any headaches (fingers crossed).

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has had success in haggling discount.

The full cost of the kitchen with appliances is £9,900, appliances and worktops, sinks, taps, etc are actually coming in at £6,500 ish (Wren are probably about £500 overpriced on these appliances compared to elsewhere), so about £3,400 for the cabinets themselves.

These are the costs after Wrens silly £10,000 promotional savings full price was nearly £20,000.

Anyway on top I managed to haggle down the £9,900 to £8000, this is about 19% extra off on top of the promo savings you get by default.

Its very difficult to gauge whether or not I have done reasonable here or whether I could have done better. Has anyone managed to negotiate a better discount with Wren?

Don't expect all of t to be delivered at once. Don't expect all of it to be delivered within 6 months. Don't expect the 'bespoke' worktop to be anything but a standard worktop that your fitter will have to adapt on site.

Do you have a price for just the units? Strip out the appliances as a Neff Oven could be £300 or £1000.

I can't get my head around Wren. Poor quality, dubious customer service. If you can't get a decent fit in the showroom, what hope does one have a home?

For all my appliances I could source them cheaper by about £500 online. This is based on Wrens full price appliance quote.

I have to say I though the quality was good in the showroom, and have heard several people and fitters quote that the quality is good. The complaints seem to be more around customer service/fitting, but thats not what I am trying to ascertain in this thread.

Just trying to find out if people are negotiating bigger discounts than 20% additional discount (after the normal promotional discounts).

Yup the showrooms look decent :)

Horrendous reports everywhere about them tho, adn they taker full payment before the job has even started (last time I dealt with them) Was our first proper kitchen and wanted somethign nice, their quote started at 7k, got them down to 5k or so.

Ended up paying about 1600 to BnQ, 2k for worktops and a few hundred on bits n bobs. we fitted it and I mjust say Im more than happy with the quality of the BnQ stuff.

We went with standard carcasses but the cooke and lewis high gloss white. A little adhoc cupboard butchery as they didnt do one of the units in the size we wanted (50cm larder). Everything fitted together fine
  • I often see you promoting Howdens. The quality of Howdens and Wren are very much the same and the customer service and pricing from from Howdens couldnt be worse than Wren?

But to the end user, Howdens don't do customer service. The customer service comes from the fitter who holds the acvount at Howdens.

I accept the quality of Howdens and Wren is very similar. However, as a Hiwdens Account holder, I know that if there is a deficiency in delivery ir a damaged item, I can get it rectified the same day. I have a customer who had a Wren kitchen fitted in October. They still haven't had all the parts delivered.

What Phil said. The pricing annoys me (but they ALL do it!) and it's a good idea to test them against the likes of Benchmarx (who I'm using now as the service from them is super right now), but they will still be cheaper than Wren who sell to end user. 12 years of holding an account, we have never gone without items, can barely remember if we've even ever taken anything back. Quality control seems to be the big issue for Wren. Never a problem for Howdens.

We've certainly never hung anything that wasn't up to scratch and never had to return something fitted. Plus we provide nothing but consciencious service to our customers and I don't doubt that the aftersales is perfectly good for us at Howdens.

  • Like I have said previously I really wasn't concerned with which is the best kitchen supplier (customer service, quality etc).

I was just trying to get opinions on negotiating discount with Wren specifically.

To add to my earlier posts, I went to the store today and made comment on the bank holiday extra discount due to me only putting the deposit down last weekend and they immediately took another £750 off the price, bank holiday offer being £750 off if you spend more than £7500 in total.

I am now feeling very happy about the amount I have paid.
