I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this query.
Vodafone has allowed someone to access my information on line and request my bills even though they have confirmed they have a note on my account explicitly saying that no one is to set up an online account unless they speak with me verbally prior to confirm.
This has caused me serious problems and I would like to know if I have any form of a case to request financial compensation as the apology they have offered does not go any way to ease the distress it has caused.
Thanks for your help

How did they get your username and password?
What losses has this caused you to be requesting compensation?0 -

My partner set up a new email account and guessed my password and registered to set up on line account management
It's distress rather than financial loss. I'm sure I don't need to go into moral details but there was a reason I had vodafone remove the access to an online access facility and to only allow me to set up after confirming verbally who I was.0 -

Partner or ex partner? All a bit odd.
Sounds like a bit of a faff on, when your password can't have been very secure if it was guessed.
Why didnt you make a password that was absolutely garbled gobbledygook and keep it stashed in your house. If you were so keen to keep it secure, you didn't do a very good job on your end.0 -
Anyway Vodafone isMt responsible for keeping your secrets.
You want to be compensated for getting found out?0 -
Rather than Data Protection, The primary issue (and how it would be treated) is that your partner has committed an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. That is a criminal offence and one which you can report them for.
Vodafone aren't the ones really at fault.0 -
I should have been able to have allowed my partner my email address and password without them being able to set up an online account with vodafone.0
