Help with airline claim under EU regs

Any help on this would be appreciated -
Our Malaysia Airlines flight from Paris to Kuala Lumpur was delayed by 6 hours. I think we may be entitled to compensation under the EU rules. I have the template letter but have two questions:
As a family of four how much is my claim for?
Where do I send an email or letter (anybody find an address for the airline?)
Thanks
Alistair

Seeing the misfortune this Airline has recently suffered, I'm wondering if it'll survive. Do you really need to claim compensation? Can't you just put in a complaint for the costs you had? Seriously this company could go under, you'd get nothing if everyone went down the compo route.0 -

I have some sympathy with what you say but the EU regs are of longstanding and should be factored into the price we pay for tickets so I see it sort of as a claim on insurance which I have paid for on this and other flights. If it does go under (and it is a flag carrier airline) then I doubt my claim will make the difference. Also they were rather sneaky about trying not to inform us about our right under EU legislation.0 -

Would the business you work for let off a shoplifter because he told you that he'd had a run of bad luck recently?0 -
Where there's blame, there's a claim
I would say put in a claim 4;
- Beer cost x 4 x 2 (2 people having 4 beers in about 6 hours, or the equivalent should you not drink)
- Large coke costs x 4 x 2 (the kids!)
- Any costs incurred due to missing connecting buses etc
- Holiday cost (minus phlight cost because they got you there) split over hours (so a 7 day one is 24x7 =168) then multiplied by the 6 hour delay to come up with a reasonable amount
So lets say;
- 3 pound beer = 24 pounds
- 2 pound Coke 4 the kids = 16 pounds
- probably 0 pounds with the connecting travel I'd say
- 3.57% o a 7 day holiday or 1.78% o a 14 day holiday
Should you be arriving at night then I'd probably knock it down to 1 or 2 beers and cokes at most because most people just go to bed anyway.
I'd say about between 20 to 40 quid plus 6/total hours on holiday multiplied by the cost o the holiday. So a 800 pound 7 day holiday = 28 quid
Should be around 30-80 quid i'd say depending on the variables

Thanks for the estimate. I did a bit better. They just sent €2,400 to my bank account.0 -

Assuming you're correct, that seems like a good result. How was it calculated ?0
