If they're going to Uni soon it might be worth getting a Mac because most students and courses use them.

    What's your budget?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Minecraft will run with an integrated graphic chip, so if that's the sort of games your daughter is gonna play, a basic laptop will do.

You won't need a gaming laptop or simply a powerful processor either.

If I were you, I'd go with an i3 (CPU).

    Hi

    ASUS F551MA 15.6” Laptop
    • Intel® Celeron® Processor N2815
    • Windows 8
    • Memory: 4 GB
    • Hard drive: 500 GB
    ##############################
    ACER E1-772 17.3" Laptop - Silver
    • Intel® Core™ i3-4000M processor
    • Windows 8.1
    • Memory: 4 GB
    • Hard drive: 500 GB
    ###########################

One is priced around about £250, the other £350

What cant be changed is screen size, 15.6 inch to 17.3, nor could the processor.

The memory RAM can be increased, the Hard drive also could be changed.

So personally I look at the screen size and hard disk, then the processor and graphics etc etc.

Do a quick search for any reviews...

    Hi

Basically anything you purchase now will come overspecced with more than enough power and performance to run these basic applications and general use.

Most laptops are Windows 8 or 8.1, which is the current operating system, try to go for an intel chipset CPU, its slightly more then AMD if you see that listed anywhere.

    More power and reliability.

Stay with a brand you know, for example

    http://www.ebuyer.com/645880-lenovo-b50-laptop-mca28uk

This is for £200 plus £30 cashback

    £199.98 inc. vat
    £169.98 after cashback

Check amazon or ebuyer, if you see one you like google that model and see what others say about it.

    Thanks

Would run this and other games.....

Perhaps you should enquire of which games may be played, other than the one mentioned, before making recommending the cheapest and least capable machine that you can find.
