Just back from a Texas Road House and I'm now enjoying a chilled Blue Moon Horchata in my Homewood Suites at Dallas.

I was just thinking about you guys the other day and wondering when you were going. Enjoy the rest of your trip!"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
We're back from Texas, New Mexico and Colorado and we've had a great time
If anyone has a need for thoughts, ideas or suggestion please shout !!!0 -
Glad you had fun fun. We're in Texas right now and we are loving it ! Look forward to comparing notes when we get back!"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. If you are in the area and fancy a little bit of peace and quiet, have a look at Fort Worth Botanic Garden & Japanese Garden
(keep a couple of quarters for some Koi Carp fund)
If you are driving in Dallas, try and get your head around how the Road Toll system works !!!!!! If you come up with a blank, set your GPS to avoid Toll Roads. There aren't any toll booths and its all done electronically off the license plate.0 -

We may be visiting NM next year. Stopping at Albuquerque for a couple of days.
Did you go there?
Also driving onwards from there through Amarillo(then into Kansas) -thoughts?0 -

Yes, we stayed 2 nights at ABQ (should have been 4 but a late adjustment occured). In all honesty, we didn't get to see much of ABQ. I really enjoyed the Nuclear Museum,
but it might not be your cup of tea.
The leg from ABQ to Amarillo was mostly MAMBA, but the first few miles as you head into the hills from ABQ might add some interest. Its a fast road, with most cars keeping to a steady low 80's on the open roads (keep an eye on your speedo as you enter intermediate towns and the speed limit drops from 75 to 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 - rich pickings for the local police
Palo Duro Zip Line is about 25 miles south of Amarillo and may be worth a detour. We enjoyed it. Its quite dear if you do a single run, but much less so for repeat zips.
p.s. Madrid NM (from Wild Hogs) was a nice quirky place to stop at for an ice cream and a brew.0 -

Just looked up MAMBA :rotfl:
Hope to go to Los Alamos and to find some quiryk Rt 66 stuff on our 11 States tour
Doing this to cover the 8 states we have not visited.
Will only leave 2 out of the 50 if sucessful.0 -
Yes Madrid was pleasant. We happened upon Albuquerque during the balloon festival, I thought it would be difficult to get accommodation but it was fine. Terrific views from Sandia Crest but the traffic into the town for the evening's events was "interesting".
A lovely part of the world to just wander around.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
