That's exactly what i would do

Don't be opening someone else 's mail

I kept getting mail for someone who lived here before, I kept sending it back not known at this address - in the end I opened it to find out what it was, it was a debt collection agency so I rang them and told them [STRIKE]to get stretched [/STRIKE]that he didn't live here anymore

But obv different circs as this mail wasn't for an ex husband :)

I did this at the beginning but letters still arrived here. Hope sending it with letter in stops them. He will must likely apply for his pension it will be more money for him to spend on

Was it a works pension or from the DWP?

If it was the DWP I would ring them and give them his address

Actually I would probably have binned it and thought ha ha no pension for you old chum

I'd keep doing it, keep returning the letters "Not known", for as long as they keep arriving or until they stop.

    Oops folks - I'm already going!! Gone. See you later:beer::money::D:cool::rotfl::rotfl::A:wave: :rotfl::rotfl::eek::wave::o:wave::T:rotfl::cool: :wave::wave::rotfl::p:rotfl::rotfl:

How was your bank holiday weekend?

    :D

It was lovely thank you. Saw lots of scary movies (most of which weren't scary but very fun- think my tolerance has gone up steadily)

Boo to the rain! How was yours Karlie?

Yes I am (or I was at the time) and my apologies for the delay in replying. I was dealing with a lot of other things and have only just got round to this.

I'm now 4 posts away from the 10,000! Or I would have reached that about 183 posts ago had I not deleted any posts.

Paid into their pension scheme and when he got sacked RM letters got delivered here.

DS kept taking them down to him and told him to change his address did he :(

I have rang RM on numerous occasions telling them he doesn't live here and saying I can give his address but  cant do that government data protection etc :(

So letters keep arriving here :(

I would perhaps get in touch again and advise them that if they do not act upon the info given by you and that if you receive further mail from them you will consider it as harassment and open an official complaint with the RM or take other appropriate action. RM will know this and know they themselves are causing harassment/distress by sending it to you....ie. breaking the law. The DP line is utter nonsense.

Once that's done just cross the name/address with RTS and put back in a post box.

Opening somebody elses mail is not illegal so you've done nothing wrong there. It only becomes an offence if you take info from that mail and act to cause harm/detriment to the adressee/other.

Afternoon all! Hope a lovely bank holiday was had :)

When DH and I lived in various rented accommodations, we always ended up with loads of post addressed to other people and 'not known at this address' never made a jot of difference. One in particular was very obviously from a DCA, so we opened it in order to contact them and make the letters stop (the person in question apparently never bothered to tick the 'I'm a student' box on her council tax forms).

In the end it was just as well we did as they were threatening bailiffs and had apparently sized up which of our worldly goods they would be taking if we inadvertently let them in

Obviously they would have had to prove that we were the person they were looking for but it would still have been a scary thing to have to deal with if we hadn't known what was going on, all thanks to someone else's inability to sort out their own post. We still had to send off every proof of ID you can think of before they would stop threatening us, which was bad really, can you imagine if it had happened to an old or vulnerable person?
