Right List time - suffice to say I wasn't as productive as I should have been today. So will do my list now so I have no excuse to come on here in the morning - I can just crack on after I've got up:

    1. DH finish building DS's wardrobe
    2. Me to clear out old changing table
    3. Put all clothes in new wardrobe
    4. DH to put DS's shelves back on bedroom wall
    5. Put all books back on shelves
    6. Break up changing table and move to garage ready for next dump run
    7. Clean and hoover DS's room
    8. Change DS bedsheets & main bed sheets
    9. Complete warranty paperwork for new windows
    10. Ironing

Phew - could go on but I daren't as looking at that it sure seems a lot to get through - especially as we are out for lunch and I would like a little (just wee) lie in as well ;)

I'd maybe have another slice just to make doubly sure ;)

    Thanks Shalamoo

Everyone has days when things go wrong and there are unexpected costs and all I can say is thank God for savings - don't meant to sound smug but that's why we all put money aside huh.

have put things in perspective - the strong tape my lovely vet put on the car boot is holding it in place so not mega urgent to get it sorted.

The unforeseen costs are however continuing - discovered my wellies are leaking - a lovely surprise while out in a flooded field at 7 yesterday morning! So ordered a new pair - I have to get decent (read expensive) wellies as I can't get my calves into cheap ones and having a dog do wear them twice a day. So that was £65.

Then today got the ironing board out to discover its all wonky and wobbly - so need to replace that - just a shame its too late to ask for it as a Christmas present - that would be exciting ;)

    1. DH finish building DS's wardrobe - still ongoing - its like a mega complicated meccano set but bless him he is plugging away
    2. Me to clear out old changing table - done but all on my bed waiting for wardrobe to be finished to I can put the stuff away
    3. Put all clothes in new wardrobe - thats this evening's entertainment !
    4. DH to put DS's shelves back on bedroom wall - no
    5. Put all books back on shelves - no
    6. Break up changing table and move to garage ready for next dump run - no not likely to happen today
    7. Clean and hoover DS's room - can't do until room all finished.
    8. Change DS bedsheets & main bed sheets - done! yea finally a complete task
    9. Complete warranty paperwork for new windows - oh cripes forgot all about that
    10. Ironing - yes but appeared to break the ironing board in the process :(

    ;)

Forgot to list the most important job which was to decorate the Christmas tree and put up the decorations - all done, to be honest I find it more of a hassle each year but it does look pretty- just need to do the outside lights which DH will do Mon or Tuesday and we'll be all twinkly. :j

DH managed to complete the wardrobe build last night - trumpet fanfare and drum roll.

The house unfortunately is a complete state with bits of DS's furniture still in the other bedrooms, painting gear in the hall and DHS's tools all over the blinking place

Really tired today due to being working up at midnight be people setting off fireworks and generally being very loud while watching them go off - who does that on a Sunday night in winter - really?!

So not planning on starting the jobs today or tomorrow.

However somehow DH and I are both finishing work for Christmas tomorrow - earliest ever I think so we have plenty of time Wednesday onwards.

Nearly a no spend day but I have put together box to drop at the food bank when we're in town Wednesday and I bought some chocolates for it.

To be honest I was shocked to find there is a food bank in the town we live in (it's an affluent commuter town in the South East) and now feel guilty that I was shocked and just assumed everyone round here is well off. I know I'm only doing this to ease my conscience regarding all our family's Christmas excesses but its better to do something than nothing I suppose.

Last day of work this year done - it's a lovely feeling (she says as she sits sipping on a celebratory glass of mulled wine ).

By happy coincidence DH is also finished. Busy day tomorrow:

    Me & DH Eye tests
DH Car for service/check long distance journey readiness
Dog progress check on her eye infection at vets
More sorting out upstairs (I know it's never ending)

Few spends coming up - aside from the above which will be high:

Buy jumper (s) for DS - he appears to only have one and its his Christmas one :T
New table/desk for DS as old one didn't survive the re-decoration (it was cheap & old so not surprised)
New bedside table for DS (now the room is all smart the old one really is too tatty to put back there :D)

I'm working up to Christmas Eve this year but cleverly booked this week off to make up for it! It must be nice to have finished, although it sounds like you won't get to relax yet!

Hope the eye tests go okay and the car doesn't cost a fortune. And well done to your husband for finishing the wardrobe!! :T

    Hi Amy

Yes I think he's earned a few brownie points (translation a bit less nagging from me) for the next few weeks.

Getting a bit fraught regarding spending again with the up coming expenses.

Ordered new reading glasses for me - £135
New reading glasses for DH - £180 (he went for for 2 pairs!)

His car went to the garage for a health check - they are keeping it overnight - this sounds expensive - I'm thinking £1k
Guess we won't find out til tomorrow.

So all feeling a little out of control but taking lots of deep breaths. These aren't impulse buys but necessary living expenses. I just hate to take money out of savings account.

All will be put on my credit card so lots of financial juggling come Jan/Feb.
