Today should be an NSD which will be more than made up for tomorrow when we hit the shops
Our friends are due around 4 so will be working through the job list before then:
Hoover through
Clean Bathroom
Washing
DH working on DS's bedroom- this is starting to feel never ending!
My items finish on ebay tomorrow one so hopefully I can end the year adding to my money making account even though I won't make my end of year target.0 -
Just got back from shopping and unfortunately did go into manic mode where I was buying thoughtlessly - every year I say I'm not going to go like this and every year I do. Haven't totted up the spends yet but although it won't be pretty I don't think I've blown the bank too much. Although I did put my M&S purchases on my CC so thats just delaying payment until January!
That is the last last physical shopping done (apart from food) although I will get a couple more bits for DS on line - again I'm getting carried away we've already spent more than I intended on him but at 12 I think he's still at an age where he'll be disappointed if he doesn't have a decent sized pile of gifts.
Ooh the guilt is increasing as I type this so I need to change the subject.
Bathroom & all of downstairs dutifully cleaned yesterday. This afternoon I need to sort out the washing, change the bedsheets and do the ironing.
DH making good progress on the bedroom re-decoration with walls all done so just the gloss work to do.
And in good news - the bag on ebay sold for twice the reserve price so that has cheered me. The other item I had listed didn't sell so I've reduced its price to see if that does the trick.
Off to change the sheets now and may well test them by having a sneaky granny nap. :cool:0 -
I've calmed down a little now, gone through all the receipts and I'm not over budget in terms of anticipated spend for today. I think the Christmas marketing and busy shops get to me as I get older and as I am buying much more than normal feel like it's out of control. I end up buying things without really looking at what they cost and that adds to the mania. Sounds weird but it's really not a pleasant. Hmm worried I'm a bit odd
Anyway feel much better having gone through everything. I'll order last 2 bits for DS this week on line and then I just have to worry about the dreaded wrapping.
Ironing done, washing machine going and one coat of gloss work completed in DS's room.
All in all a pretty productive weekend.0 -
Well the boiler is sure getting a good work out now that winter has kicked in. Heating has been on all day, I am wearing 2 pairs of socks and I'm still chilly, might have to get a blanket out.
Still not feeling totally in control of spending right now, DH has booked his car in for a check up next Wednesday as warning light is intermittently coming on. We are driving to Germany Saturday 20th so obviously need to check there isn't a problem brewing. However in my experience car repairs are never lower than anticipated.
Still need to buy travel insurance and get the Euros for the trip as well.
Few small cash back amounts are in progress from My Supermarket and TCB but the item I sold on ebay still hasn't been paid for so I suspect that will fall through - that hasn't happened to me before.
Apart from that just plodding on with work and counting down the days until I finish for the Christmas break - only 5 working days to go :jq0 -
I don't think many people feel in control of their spending at this time of year Pushkin I know I definitely don't! As long as you're aware of it that's the important thing - that's what I tell myself anyway!!!!MFW 2015 so far..... £1808.70
2014 - £1451 2013 - £1600 2012 - £4145 2011 - £5715 2010 - £3258:)
Big new mortgage from 2017

Pretty good day on the money front, the buyer paid for the bag I sold on ebay - after p&p & their commission I've made just over £10, I also have couple of small cashbacks in progress which total about £3.50. If they track fast (some hope!) I may get within touching distance of the £200 target I set for my money making activities.
DH has finished painting DS's bedroom - it's a Christmas miracle :j
Carpet is due to be fitted Friday so if all goes to plan by Friday night DS will have a sparkly new room and we'll have our lounge back as the flat pack wardrobe currently stored there will finally in situ.0 -
No real news, having a real hamster in a wheel week just plodding on and running round in circles.
Managed to be more organised than of late and have a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for dinner.
Internet food shopping came yesterday and they delivered 19 bananas - I hadn't ordered any and they haven't charged me for them. Already had 3 in so now have 22.:money: Have given a bunch to the neighbours and I'll take some for my parents but I suspect a few will end up in the bin. Was much better the last time this happened and we got 8 steaks for free :T0 -
The good news is the DS's new carpet has been fitted, the bad news it that it wasn't done until just before 5. So poor DH who had the day off is right now busy building the wardrobe - living the dream on a Friday night huh
Bit overwhelmed by the state of the house - furniture from DS's room is in the other 2 bedrooms and the bathroom and the hall is full of empty boxes (from the wardrobe).
Lot of tidying and sorting to be done - and I need to work out what needs to be cleared this evening otherwise none of us will be able to get into bed0 -

Banana cake or banana muffins  get baking!!Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Am having a horrendous day  grump grump grump
Dog has had a leaking eye last couple of days -she has some history with eye issues so whipped her to the vets and she has an infection, eye drops and a follow up appointment Wednesday.
V stressful getting to the vets too as the main road into town was shut so I ended up being 15 minutes late which I hate!
£58 unexpected spend - and more to follow!
Then when closing the boot of the car the handle fixing came off in my hand - this too has happened before and will likely cost a couple £ hundred to get fixed.
Any more unexpected costs before Christmas? The timing really couldn't be worse.
Oh yes - DH and I both have eye tests this week - I know he will need new glasses and fear I will too (old age sight deterioration officially sucks!).
DH and DS have driven up to Norfolk to see his family so I have the day clear and a ton of clearing, tidying & present wrapping to do.
To cheer myself up I am going to make banana bread - use up a few of my banana mountain.
On that note though a friend has told me that they can be frozen and when re-frosted will be ok for cooking with.
May be back later with my job list but just having a coffee to calm down after my horrible morning.0
