Letting sky contract run down...?

Just phoned Sky to see if I can renegotiate my current deal which expires in a month. It's a good deal and I might not get the same one again. They said wait until the day after the current deal expires and phone to negotiate at new deal as new offers will appear.

They said after the date the current deal expires we go on a rolling contract which we can cancel any time but I assume that if we let it roll that if we end up completely leaving we will need to pay for the rolling month?

Is it better to all out cancel or just wait for it to run down and try and get a new deal? To be honest, I will probably stick with them as long as they don't quote me more per month.

Yes it will be a rolling monthly contract but obviously and deal\discounts you get now wont apply and you can cancel at any time. Yes if you wait you will pay for another month (but at full price). This is why they want you to wait. Also it is unlikely they will offer you a better deal if you just phone up and ask for one (even when your minimum term is up). The best bet is to phone up to cancel (so you give your notice). At this point you will either be transferred to retentions or someone will phone you up a few days later. These people will probably give you the deal you are after.

You'll never get the good deals just by phoning up 1st tier CS. You need to get put through to retentions, which means giving your notice, and meaning it.
