OLD STYLE DAILY SATURDAY 16th AUGUST

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Last day of our holiday and need to be out by 10am. Back home to a mountain of washing and ironing (think it can go to the laundrette though) and back to the daily grind
Kids had a lovely time but it was exhausting - and expensive so will need to jump back into OS pretty darn quick!
Hope you all have a good day

I'm feeling drained today and very sore, but so much better. So I'm going to take it easy and do things as and when I feel like it. Or not

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Mr tru shelled the borlottis last night while I was dozing on the sofa, so that's one job taken care of. I need to chop and freeze tomatoes and courgettes, I might take everything into the lounge and do it while I'm watching a film.

Morning everyone.
Up with the swallows today, grief, they don't half twitter away to each other! There are about 20 of them lined up on the phone wire to the house.
Arrived home last night to find the new wardrobes had been installed so really happy about that. I can finally clear out the few remaining boxes from the move. Got piles and piles of cardboard lying in the barn which I'll take to the dump today. Also the utensil holder had been put up in the kitchen along with the magnetic knife holder! It's great to find all the little jobs sorted as if by magic!
Did a big wash last night, only need to buy milk and fruit. Will spend some time with friends in the early afternoon and that's me. Then will sort out the boxes which have winter jackets and clothes and spare bedding. :j
Hope all those with bad news are bearing up, today is the seventh anniversary of my only brother suddenly dying, without any warning a massive heart attack overtook him. Treasure each day is now how I live though it's not always that easy.
So, thoughts to all everywhere.
Happy Saturday folks.0 -
Morning All
Been raining during the night but dry for now, I think we are forecast sunshine and showers. I will put the washing out anyway as there is a breeze. Brought cushions home from school and washed them so they are drying on racks in the conservatory.
Going to the chinese cash and carry this morning to see if I can get spring roll wrappers. I did a Thai cooking course when I was away and DD wants to make spring rolls - not sure if I can remember what to do but we will give it a go. Also want to see if I can get some ingredients for a proper Thai curry, been missing that!
Need to give the upstairs bathroom a good clean at some point today and print off a label for Amaz0n - my kindle fire wont switch on and they are replacing it. I have to return the old one but doesn't look like I have to pay, great service when they haven't even seen it. I think the on/off button has broken so probably could be fixed. Still, I'll happily settle for a new one!
Hugs to you Gers, a difficult day. Sounds like you are getting there now with the unpacking.
tru - that sounds painful but great if you are feeling better. Take it easy!
Hugs to all, especially those not feeling so good. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning everyone, it's lovely today down here, blue sky and sun at the moment and I'm hopeful of getting washing out and dry in the garden. It was lovely to sleep the night through too, home is definately where my heart (and comfy bed) is!!!
I'm going to make a hotpot for lunch today with lots of nice veg, I've been wanting one for the whole week and we've some nice cabbages in the polytunnel to go with it and I've got a yearning for some swede too but we don't grow those so I'll have to buy one.
I think it must be slightly autumnal now as I had to evict the most enormous spider from the wash basin in the bathroom this morning, I scooped him up in a jug and popped him out of the window. They don't bother me but he was a bit big to hand catch, I thought I might hurt his legs. I love the big brown and white ones who spin webs in hedges at this time of year and sit in the middle waiting for thier fly lunches to come across and on wet days have webs full of water drop diamonds that sparkle in the sun, so pretty.
Hope all of you have a very good day and things in it that make you smile, Lyn xxx.0 -

Hugs to Elona, Gers, Molly and Mrs MH xx
Cool today but dry. I had a nice evening, DH made dinner and DD sat in bed with me and we did a puzzle on her iPod together. Earlier in the day I had called my dad whom I cut of contact with three years ago after a big fall out. I wanted to check mums previous medical history, and there isn't anyone else left to ask. I ended up getting all emotional on the phone and blubbing I'm afraid
it's a very awkward situation as we have an unresolved argument that I really don't want to open up again, added to which I can't stand my stepmother so there will never be a happy ending.
The garden is still giving up its bounty so I will be out the gathering today, also I have to pick up the dry cleaning. Leftover curry for dinner tonight.
I just want to add how lovely it is reading about everyone's doggies here. I haven't had a dog since I was 18 and as DS1 has allergies we can't have one at the moment, but it is so nice to be reminded about their character and japes!
Have a good day all, and big hugs to those who need them xx0 -

Hugs to LW & hubby, Molly, Hilly, Mrs MH, Elona & anyone else in need. Mrs LW, I don't mind spiders either even though I was once bitten by one
We looked after DD's 3 month old twins y'day, it was a bit like tag wrestling, we couldn't get both of them to sleep at the same time, but they were gorgeous, so happy & so full of smiles. Hubby is still in bed, I ache in muscles I'd forgotten I had, but I can still do 'flying baby' laying the baby along one arm face down.
Today I'm making marmalade & sorting my freezer out..
I've just hung the 2nd load of washing on my line, mainly hubby's tee-shirts that the babies sicked on when he was winding them!
People are sharing hearts on face book to stop child abuse, yesterday whilst at Lego-land with 7 children, DD saw a child being badly treated, when her intervention was ignored, she called security, who called the police, who then called social services. Please don't turn a blind eye if you think something isn't right, always report it to someone.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
