Multiple uninvited calls for upgrade (Orange)

Hi

Im almost at the end of an Orange contract
For the last week or so I have been phoned several times by a variety of third parties looking to do business with me for an upgrade, Ive been with several networks previously and this is the first time its happened to me

They all initiate the chat by saying something like they are "calling about my Orange upgrade" and when I ask if they are anything to do with Orange generally dodge the question although some admit to being completely seperate

None will tell me where they get my number from

I can discount the reseller who supplied it as they have called and been politely declined so somebody somewhere must be passing my account details on to these people

But who?

I recently left Orange a month early. I have also been harassed day and night with phonecalls but when I phone up to complain to Orange, they claim that my details aren't on their system anymore and that they can't do anything about it! I have signed up to the TPS to remove my number months ago and so it is interesting that you have said they are separate parties as I was unaware of that. Are you with the TPS also?

Getting the same here - as soon as I get rid of one batch (the phone's in my husband's name so they all insist on speaking to him... of course he's out at work and so they ring back again and again and again) then the next batch start ringing. Thinking I'm going to end up having to lose my number when I leave Orange to get shot of the flipping calls - which is a really annoying thought.

Numbers were generally allocated in batches, calling the people in the month prior to the yearly anniversary of the release of the batch will invariably give you a lot of people at the 12 or 24 month point.

Its not skulduggery on the part of anyone, just thinking the situation out and cold calling a lot of people, sometimes they will get it right..

    Not the case
Ive had the same number for 15 years with major random periods on PAYG so I am not near the anniversary of anything

    Its clearly targetted

Vodafone did the same with me and I managed to get the Third party to confirm that Vodafone had given them my number.

Pretty sure they are all at it as part of their customer retention plans.
