Three Mis-sold Contract, Beware the Saleman
I am going abroad for a 2 week holiday in about 1 weeks time.
I have just bought a SIM free Motorola G 4G (great 'phone incidentally) and as data roaming is expensive I shopped around and decided to go for Three as I will be going to the 'Feel at Home' countries but you have to be a member of Three for 30 days to qualify, phoned up Three and the Salesman assured me that get would waive that requirement (I triple checked this with him) all I would have to do is 'phone up customer services when I activate the SIM.
But Three network's customer service is truly awful, spent 17 minutes constantly being cut off trying to get through, when you do, you get a call centre from far, far away where you can barely hear them amongst the terrible line, thick accents and background chatter going on, then you are informed that you were misinformed by the salesman and anyway you've got a 30 day contract and you ain't getting out of it. After pointing out that I was only 30 minutes into the statutory 14 day cooling off period and I AM CANCELLING THIS CONTRACT, after about another 30 minutes of being pushed from department to department I am now an ex-Three customer!
Lesson learned.

You could always just get a Three PAYG sim for your holiday, the 30 day requirement doesn't apply to PAYG...====0

Thanks for that. I heard that too but it was really unclear from their website. You needed to convert the call credit to some sort of add-on? Perhaps it would have been nice for the salesman to tell me that, perhaps he only makes commission by selling pay monthly contracts?0 -
Yeah you buy an add on, I use the £15 one for the unlimited data. Wish I had a reason to try feel at home though!0

I hate salesmen who lie through their teeth to get a sale.
That's why I do my best to help people on forums like these to make the right decision.
Get a pay as you go SIM with the all in one 15 add on which gives you 300 minutes, 3000 texts and unlimited data. It'll work abroad straight away.0 -

I'm a bit loathe to use Three again due to the shambles and the irritation they caused me. Could I order the free SIM and then top up with the all in one add on? I'm going on holiday fairly soon and if it doesn't arrive on time I would have wasted £15.0 -
You can probably get the SIM for 99p or for free in the Three shop. No need to order.0

You can order from their website or go into a Three shop and get one free, you could go into other mobile shops or even a newsagent or pound shop and get one from free to £1.
You need to top up with at least £15, and then use the credit to buy the add-on by navigating to the buy add-ons page of "My 3", either on the phone or on the internet using a tablet or PC.====0 -
Dont blame Three too much. Sales in ALL the mobile providers do exactly the same thing. I have been quite blatantly lied to by staff from Orange and Vodafone in the past (and i dont mean little porkies but huge obvious piles of steaming doo doo).0
