O/S Daily Thread Friday 15th August

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Well, the children were in yesterday. No tears from the new Primary 1s but a few from the older ones, sometimes moving from infant area to junior area is a big step, plus the building work doesn't help.

Had to attend a difficult funeral yesterday - 31 year old girl, married with an 11 month old son. Went from there to the Hospice as I haven't been for a couple of months with being away. I was quite drained when I got home.

Mr A delivered heavy/urgent shopping yesterday - DD noticed that one of the eggs was broken before the driver went away so they were refunded and we got to keep the rest of the eggs! Also gained a pack of Gouda cheese that I didn't order. The cupboards look a little more healthy with a stock of tinned essentials in now.

Sorted all the spare quilts last night too, I have had a king size quilt on my double bed and it was really beginning to annoy me so I swapped for a double quilt. I will take all the king size quilt covers, etc to the charity shop. Much more comfortable last night as I wasn't fighting with the quilt!

Washing on the airers drying off from yesterday, DD stripped the beds and put everything out but there was a huge downpour so it got a bit wet again.

Dandy - Hope you are feeling a little better, the sooner you get to your appointment the sooner you will know, glad you went to view the house to take your mind off things.

Take care. Hugs to all. XX

Hugs & good wishes to all those in need, so many needing them at present.
The twins are arriving around 10ish, we have the pram already, DD & her hubby are taking 6 bigger ones to Legoland.
My hubby is on holiday, so in theory he will be around to help, but it depends on how many phone calls he gets from work!
I should have worked all day yesterday, but had been given the wrong date, so I did another job instead, I'm back in next week again.
I made some beetroot chutney yesterday to use up some of the beetroot, it's a beautiful colour, there are pics on my blog.
The kettle is calling, it's time I made another cuppa.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

A definite chill in the air this morning, I would have thought a little early to be autumnal.

Need to pop to Mr. T for a few essentials, and I must do some washing today. If needs be will have to dry it inside.

Happy holidays Jackie, hope the weather is kind to you.

Hester the beetroot chutney looks gorgeous, Himself loves beetroot. I did buy 2 bags of shallots the other day so I am going to enlist his help in peeling them ready to pickle, and then they should be ready for winter. I am a bit of a wimp peeling onions.

Well wishes to all poorlies and hugs to anyone who wants one.

Mrs.MH talk to us when you feel like it, we can listen if we can't do anything constructive, and I hope your Boy is a little calmer today. Hugs to you both.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all,

Happy Birthday donny gal:beer: have a great day x

My son got his results yesterday, not too bad and definitely good enough to do another year and try and lift his results into the A's and B's he would like. Anyway he's been out celebrating results and a friends 18th birthday, then decided to text me at 4.15am to say he was waiting for a taxi  arrived home at 5.10am. Probably won't shift himself until this afternoon.

It's my last day with DGS today. Must admit I'm tired after three days of a very active 5 yr old. Anyway today is a big walk around a local lake, possibly an ice cream and then back home to mum at 3.00
I shall need the weekend to recover.

Tomorrow we are off to look at a possible new home for mum and dad. Not sure it is big enough but fingers crossed.

Sunday I have my son and his gf for lunch and I've promised her a steak and ale pie. She's pregnant and craving pastry:D

It feels chilly to me this morning, I did contemplate putting the heating on for half an hour but decided against it.

We are also hoping to trim the bushes in the front garden and hubby needs to fix the gutter which has sprung a leak.

Otherwise not much on:eek: have a great Friday x

    Morning -fabulous Friday!

At the office, had my Friday treat of a bacon roll and really enjoyed it.

Got a short day today and then heading up north for the weekend. Can't wait until I finally finish work and can be there full time. Have got a bag of sheets to wash when I'm there.

Had a weird week which has been topped off with a frustrating phone call to nPower. Won't moan but MY GOD they are awful.

Did a Costco run the other day and got a bootful of stuff for the house - a couple of rugs to replace the dirty woollen ones we've been using since April. I decided that as work was still going on they may as well remain but now it's time to have them cleaned. And got some wine too....:j

It's good to hear the exam results and takes me right back to my youth. Mind you our results came in the post I think, it's perhaps too long to remember clearly!

    Happy Friday everyone.
