iPhone broken out of warranty but in contract

Looking for advice, my girlfriends phone is broken thought it was a battery problem or the charging connector. had both replaced. Phone still will not charge. Looks unrepairable. She still has 6 months of her contract remaining. The phone is with o2, but purchased through Carphone Warehouse.
I believe that the phone is not fit for purpose anymore. Do I have any comeback? Who should I contact?
Thanks

Was it fit for purpose before it ceased to charge?

What do you think caused this problem?

When it broke you should have gone to Apple, buy getting a third party to repair you have basically left yourself stuck.

A phone and a airtime contract are separate, o2 are not obligated to provide you with a working phone for the duration of your contract.
  • It was working fine, until one day it wouldn't charge. I have no idea why.

I thought it was a battery fault, so a third party changed it for me. If I had taken it to Apple what would they do if it was out of warranty?

Offer you a complete replacement at a cost, usually around £150 ish

As it stands now, they might still offer you one, but the network certainly wont be much help to you.

warranty is broken as an a none authorised repair has taken place
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If it's a battery problem they would have charged a fee of £55 according to their website. But they usually just replace the phone. Not the battery.

I had this with my iPad a while back. They charged £60 and replaced the iPad.

But since there's now a third party betters in there then I think you're out of luck as far as Apple helping you out.

  • This problem seems to crop up regularly. While it's too late for the OP, they have shot themselves in the foot by having a 3rd pary meddle with the iPhone... The sure way to obtain a 2 year warranty with Apple seems to be to buy the product directly from Apple, not a high street phone shop, as Apple then are responsible for the warranty and they do give a 2 year warranty. The high street phone shops quote a one year warranty and if taken to Apple they say you didn't buy it from them and to take it to the shop you bought it from.

A friend had an iPad replaced in an Apple store in Spain that was purchased in the UK, it was between 1 and 2 years old at the time and she had no problem getting it sorted.

UK warranty on Apple reads as 1 year
