Thanks for starting this thread and also to Martin for the explanation. I tried several times yesterday afternoon and couldn't get the MSE site to open at all. I was wondering why
............especially since there wasn't a warning notice in the morning to advise us of impending 'server works' or such.
What an absolute pain.........I would insert the old crying smilie here if it was an option.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

Somebody on the team doesn't seem to know this - as witnessed by my post just up there ^ a bit.
I'm just pleased that I really had checked well and that I wasn't wasting somebody's valuable time
Right. I'm off back to the salt mines
I think it's important to notice though that 1. Not all of the MSE team log on from the same place (some of us work from home) and following on from that 2. Out of our tens of thousands of members, those reporting problems on here are reletively small.
Thus, not everyone experiences the same problem. It's also important to note that i've checked with webmaster and there were actually only two email reports to that account yesterday. It would be helpful if more people could report it when it is happening to them. This rules out that chance that a couple of people are experiencing individual ISP problems and alerts us quicker to the fact that there may be a problem our end

Sorry, didn't know about the email probs bit. Thought it was just me. Still it made do a pc health check.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Earlier this morning (Thursday 5th May) I could get into the MSE site, but not through to the Chat Forum. I tried several times (and I think others have had similar problems too) without success until now.
What's the problem this morning then?;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

Same here, I emailed to let them know as I couldn't get on here at all so wasn't sure if the problem was widespread or not.
For about 10 minutes before the site went down, none of the links were working. Clicking on various boards had no effect at all.
I have noticed that if I click on something and it doesn't load, then if I stop the page loading and immediately click on it a second time, then it always works. Weird.
