Guess what my cat brought it?

It was under the kitchen table then it ran out towards a cupboard and then ontowards the fridge freezer followed by the cat. I had to push him off and I made the snap decision to grab it by the tail. I did this and then threw it out of the door.
It lay there prone and stunned till it limped off. I was terrified it would run behind the fridge freezer/other appliance and be very difficult to get out. It was a horrible experience and I'm going to keep the door between the kitchen and the rest of the house shut when the cat is out. Really horrible, imagine if that was someone who was elderly who had to catch it or someone who was really phobic about rats/mice.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

That's horrible! I imagine if a neighbour had found 'a pest' i.e. your cat and thrown it out of the door by it's tail until it was limping that you would have something to say!

What would you have done? cradled it lovingly to you as it was thrashing about and going mad? I very much doubt it.0

I would've found a spade or something else heavy and finished it off. I am an animal lover but rats are disgusting! (I'm not talking about domesticated rats here, I'm talking sewer-living dirty, disease ridden vermin.
This will probably offend a lot of people, but that's how I feel.0 -

Depending on where it was either chase it out of the door if it was near one or place a live rat trap down to get it later and keep the cat out of that room!
No need to abuse any animal...0 -
Well I was considering giving it a nibble of my vegan sheese on the way out. However, basic instinct took over. I dont think many people have a live rat trap to hand either.0

My old (and much missed) cat - also a big tom - brought lots of rats home but never into the house.
That was because he'd yowl loudly on the patio until I looked out of the window and told him what a clever boy he was, then he'd eat it.
The lot - starting with the head - apart from one tiny internal organ which we think must have been the gall bladder or something similar.0 -
When I lived elsewhere and had Ollie Puss, he brought live rats into the yard all the time. He played with them awhile then the screaming as he decided okay time to to dismember. It was going out and clearing up the bloody remains which was the yucky part.0
