When to switch....

Hello.
Just hoping for some advice on the best time to switch.
I'm with Talk Talk and my 12-month contract runs out in mid-September. I paid my line rental for the period upfront at the start of the deal and am just paying about £7 each month.
I may switch as I'm aware TT line rental charges have been increased and I could take advantage of cashback and voucher schemes.
Once my contract runs out I'd be hit by an increased charge the next month... So I want to switch to stop that happening... Or haggle for a good deal.
But I also don't want to get a charge for switching while under contract....
When would be the best time to go for another product?
And would they sort out cancelling the old one - or would I have to ring TT to cancel or, potentially, haggle?
Thanks.

You contract never 'runs out'. It just reaches the end of it's minimum term, and then you need to give 30 days notice. So you can ask for your MAC in a few days time if you wish-then when put through, see what retention deal they offer. No free lunch, and no free laptop
