PrePaid / Pay As You Go - Who Reports On Your Credit File?

Options
Hey All,

So I am new to the UK and in the position of having zero credit, getting a bank account has been difficult enough, let alone a mobile phone. Anyway, I heard that Monster Telecom have a prepaid plan that requires no credit, but will report to your credit file (which in my case is good). Would this be correct? Are there any other providers that would do this?

Thanks in advance!

What are you talking? :) PAYG in this country does not require any kind of credit history.
You can even top up with cash.

Even if you buy a Fully Loaded Plan what effect do you think it will have?
2.7 We reserve the right to perform a credit check using the
information that you provide us with during the application or
    contract upgrade.

    This smells of SPAM.
  • If you live in a large town or city the way to go is with Network Three - a pay as you go network that charges 3p a minute, 2p a text and 1p a Mb of data. Check coverage first though.
Then all you need is a 3G phone (unlocked) plus a Network Three sim card (available free if you order it online or £1 in the shops).
You put in £10 credit (you can do this in shops displaying the top up logo) and the credit lasts until it's all used up, then you just top up again.

What they were trying to suggest is that you can build up some kind of credit history and then the banks will start throwing money at you.
They should think of another way of plugging their wares.

    I think OP means this

    https://www.monstertelecom.co.uk/

If the OP takes out a sim only will it build up hes/shes credit file
i would think it would because you are in a contract.

    We knew what it meant.
  • For pay as you go you don't need any sort of credit history. You can get it easily. If you want to make a good credit history best thing to do is register on electoral role where you live it gives you a boost for your credit rating and you will get contract phone easily. If you studying you can get student contract phones.
