Box for the groom

Just wondering if any of you brides-to-be are planning any kind of gift box for your groom?
Our wedding isn't until June next year but I have started putting a list together of silly little things to put ina box for him to open on the morning of the big day. So far I have come up with:
Pair of socks - in case he gets cold feet!
Pair of boxers - joke present as they say "under new management" on them
Large pack of chewing gum - he chews a lot of gum if he's nervous etc. He apparently went through about 2 packs whilst trying to choose my engagement ring so it's a bit of an in joke with us and I know it will actually be useful
Half sized bottle of his favorite whisky so he can have a bit of dutch courage and a drink with his dad & best man before travelling to the venue
Mini book on how to be the perfect husband - again humerous with silly little tips and jokes
Pack of tissues or a hanky - in case of ninja onions (our silly phrase for when something makes you cry with emotion!)
Mini pack of love hearts - cos he'll always have my heart
Letter written by me for him to read before we get married telling him how much I love him and why I'll be so proud to walk down that aisle and make the promise to love and cherish him forever as his wife.

I'm going to give this to his dad a day or two before the wedding with instructions to give it to him of the morning of the day itself as I know they'll be getting ready together with his best man joining them a bit later in the morning.

Anyone doing anything silimar or have any other ideas?
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

He will always treasure the letter long after the boxers, booze and sweeties have been forgotten. He's a grown up man, treat him like one not like a child who needs a goodie bag.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I think this is a lovely idea! I'm a grown up woman but if my fianc! put something together that was so thoughtful I'd be thrilled. If you know it's things he will appreciate then why not?

I've already bought a card and have been wondering whether to buy a few bits, but honestly, I think a note telling him I've paid for his next annual golf membership will bring the biggest smile to his face so I'm likely to end up doing that :D

That's a bit harsh don't you think? Myself and my partner are both light hearted and enjoy little silly things such as this hence the idea. If it wasn't something he would appreciate I would not be doing it. I refer to the old addage of "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

The one thing mine really appreciated was the bottle of water we left in the church for him...he said his mouth had never felt so dry and holding it gave him something to do with his hands whilst waiting for it all to begin.

  • LEJC - That's a great idea - We're having a civil ceremony and reception all in one location so I could certainly arrange for a couple of bottles of water to be left there for him and the groomsmen! Thank you so much for the fab suggestion!

  • Male type person checking in. I'd be very happy to receive something like that. great to relieve the inevitable tension on the day and a great balance of serious and light-hearted stuff.

Hope you have a great time.:kisses2:

I'm doing something similar for my groom - his gift bag so far has nice socks, whisky (in a personalised hipflask as I know he has always wanted one!), cufflinks, a scarf (wedding is in November!), a card, and a couple of other things that I can't remember off the top of my head! Will definitely add a bottle of water too.

I wanted to create a gift of all the little things he might appreciate on the day that he perhaps won't have thought of himself, that will be useful to him. I think it's a lovely idea, and I secretly hope my groom is doing a similar thing for me!!
