Ridiculously early flight times

How convenient or not an early fight is all depends on how far people need to travel to the airport.
My nearest is London City Airport about 10-15 minutes drive away so whenever possible I fly from there and I don't mind early flights - it's a small airport, small planes and not that many flights compared to Heathrow or Gatwick - so there's far fewer people and really I only need to get there 1 hour at most before my flight time (and that's really leaving it plenty of time!)
It also wouldn't bother me that much to book a hotel room for the night before a flight if I had to and/or get up at stupid o'clock - I go on a short break or holiday to relax, and so refuse to get worked up about things like flight times, which I have absolutely no control over and which might not always be convenient but hey, it gets me where I want to go. Now of course, if I could afford a private plane...

My mum, me & my sister are going on holiday for a week later in the year & we've got flights at 10.30am, not too early and from the airport 20 minutes away. We chose to pay a bit more as the later flights don't get us to our destination until around 10pm & we wanted some time in the evening in resort to eat & have a drink before bed.
We flew from LCY at 7am last year, 30 minutes drive from where we live, arrived at our Majorca hotel by midday so had lunch and relaxed in the afternoon thus making the most of our early start for a 3 night break.
It's exciting getting up early for a flight, it's the really late ones back I don't like, the ones that mean you don't get home until 1am or something. Of course you get a full day in resort or hotel but if you have to check out of your room at midday & there's no room to use to shower and change, it's a pain.0 -
my flight to corfu is 6.30 am.. i will be in Corfu by lunchtime
my holiday starts then.. why waste 1 days all inc on having a late flight just for the bed... 0 -
What I like about the LCCs is you can mix the flights.
We flew Stansted to Palma last month for a short break flew out at 6.10 am jumped in a cab on arrival and were checked in and settled on the beach by 10.30am coming home we paid to keep our room til 8pm then hopped on a bus into Palma and then had a drink then onto the airport bus flight left at 11 pm and we were home before 2am local time.
I'd rather maximize my time away than have a lie in at home before battling daytime traffic to the airport.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

The other attractive thing about early morning flights for me, is that the local 'Oiks' don't see you putting your cases in the car/minibus, so don't know you have gone away on holidays.
Lights coming on at random throughout the day/night add to the illusion and next door neighbour uses my drive whilst I am away, so house always seems occupied.
Nothing worse than spectators watching you leave with cases, or a neighbour shouting at the top of their voice in the road ''Have a nice holiday''! which happened to me a few years back with a Greek woman across the road ! lol0
