Was given a used iPhone 4s and, after trying to restore it to factory settings - without success, It now states -
"iPhone is disabled - try again in 23,419,776 minutes"!
The screen will slide but only to allow emergency calls - nothing else, nor does the (working) home button ave any functionality
I've downloaded and updated itunes on my laptop and following the online restore guide can enter the recovery/restore mode on the phone display HOWEVER, there are no devices showing within itunes nor does the pop-up asking me what to do appear
any suggestions? any way I can get itunes to recognise the device? I only have a generic/aftermarket data cable / charger, Would that affect it? Would replacing the SIM card do any good?
Really gutted as it's my 1st 'good' phone!

Sounds like it could be a lost/stolen phone that you and/or your friend don't know the lock code for and have been trying over and over to guess the code and the phone makes the time out between guesses longer and longer.
Why don't you pop it into an Apple Store and ask a Genius for a definite answer for that message?====0 -
No there's no passcode screen to unlock - never has been, just the disabled screen - How they received it from ebay
Pretty sure apple haven't started 24 opening so thats not going to help at 23.30 at night!0 -
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

Pretty sure going to Apple tonight wasn't suggested. Pretty sure if you go to bed and try what was suggested in the morning after 9.00am they will give you an answer.0 -

Just because you haven't seen the lock screen doesn't mean it wasn't there when your "friend" started entering the wrong lock code.Happy_bunny wrote: »Pretty sure apple haven't started 24 opening so thats not going to help at 23.30 at night!
Pretty sure I don't really feel like offering any further help to a sarcastic !!!! who at no time was told to go to Apple at 11pm...====0 -
You didn't offer any 'help' - just a thinly veiled 'it must be knocked off' comment which is about as much help as a chocolate teapot!
There was NO passcode screen, not now, not when she got it!
Clearly I cannot obtain apple assistance at this time of night - which is why I asked on the forum for ideas!0 -

It's a simple fix, try googling for it...====0 -
