Robin Hood Airport 'PCN'

Hi All,

So annoyed with myself!
Never been to Robin hood Aiport before, and went to pick up my mum and dad. I did notice the signs but didn't get chance to read them in full as I was trying to concentrate on the signs for finding the short stay carpark.
I pulled over just off one of the roundabouts to programme home into my Satnav, and I just found a couple of metres with no double yellow lines on the road, so thought i would be OK for 1 minute.

Then of course within seconds appeared the Camera van sounding an alarm and flashing lights. I had no clue what it was, but pulled away asap, as I was still a little lost, and my parents were delayed, I knew I would be a while so drove about 2 miles away to find a safe place to wait. As I left the area, i noticed a dead end literally within metres of where I was parked with three parked cars there with headlights on. It just sticks in my mind, as I wondered why there were there and hadn't been chased away???

About 30 minutes later when i went back to pick them up as I approached the roads, the van yet again appeared from nowhere and it followed me round and round until I went into the carpark.
This is a joke and surely illegal by now?

Anyway soon as I returned home I found this website and have read as much as I can find, I have sent my appeal to VCS and expect my refusal, just wonder how long this generally takes to get the response back? and then when I appeal to POPLA do I need to send anything else other than an e-mail with my appeal letter?

Thanks for any help you an offer, I just couldn't find any really updated cases from the last few months for Robin Hood Airport in particular, to check if anything had changed, or what my chances were on winning the appeal.

Wish we could do something about these idiots, it really makes my blood boil

Thanks for any recent info or help

there will be several cases like this from this year, just use the search box and RHA or doncaster or airport (loads of recent hits for doncaster, with popla appeals included)

appeal it in the usual manner as per the NEWBIES thread, you should win this no problem if you use the correct words , same as all the other airport threads on here

Did you wait for the NTK before appealing as you have not made this clear. To be honest I don't know how you would appeal otherwise.

Did you read the newbie thread and use template or use mitigating circumstances?

If you get a POPLA code, then yes your chances of winning are good, especially as there is no keeper liability on airport land under POFA 12.

Read the newbie thread for examples of how to appeal at POPLA, and I have seen various Robin Hood Thesads so should be easy to put an appeal together from these and win.

    Hi,

Yes I read the 'newbies' thread and used that template, I waited for the NTK to come through, and appealed the day it came through by e-mail i got the immediate standard response, and then have been waiting a week and a half for the refusal, so i guess they drag their heals so that they can say in their response " your 14 days reduced amount is up, you now have to pay 100 quid instead of 60"

I just wonder why when VCS get the appeals and they can see that they are all worded pretty much identical and ask for the POPLA code that they don't just cancel it, because if everyone wins at POPLA stage surely it costs them a fee. They must know who is clued up and who is not?!
I know they make a lot of money from people just paying it and not appealing it.

I will see if I can find anymore recent posts from RHA
    cheers

They can take up to 35 days to respond to appeal, so a little patience. Whilst awaiting rejection, do some light reading on robin. Hood POPLA appeals as suggested by Redx.

You don't need any - the Newbies thread, in post #3 of it, tells you how to win at POPLA in a link that takes you to a VCS Airport POPLA appeal already written for you.

No idea why on earth you are looking at the money and the bribe of the discount as if it means something in your case. Of course it doesn't! You seem to be making this seem harder than it is! Just be patient and wait for the rejection letter by early next month then send your version of the VCS Airport POPLA appeal. Job done.
when I appeal to POPLA do I need to send anything else other than an e-mail with my appeal letter?
Why not look on the POPLA website? This is really easy to do, explained by POPLA or shown every day by example on this forum in every thread (whether about VCS or not). Generally these POPLA appeals are not emailed nor posted - most posters here submit them to POPLA electronically on the website in due course when you have your POPLA code from VCS with the rejection letter.

    Thanks for your info everyone,
will just have to sit and wait. Read up as much as I can.

I didn't mean it was a bribe or anything specific to my case. In general I found it frustrating that the VCS are so quick 1. Catching you (after I was sat there for about 10 seconds) and 2. Very quick to issue the PCN.
However very slow with their correspondence!
again many thanks, you guys do an amazing job on here

''I didn't mean it was a bribe or anything specific to my case.''

I did! That's exactly what it is, even when a Council 'offers' the discount. It's a 'pay up quick, look an early bird offer or it will cost more' threat which is wholly wrong since both types of PCN and appealable and winnable.

    Hi Guys,
Received my reply from VCS just now, and before I do the POPLA appeal wanted to check that the response from them is standard, and do I have to give them any other information to cover my back, that they are saying I did not provide them with etc?

    Dear ****

    Notice Serial No ******
    Vehicle Registration Mark : *****
Date & Time of Issue *******

We refer to your appeal against the above PCN which we received by e-mail on ** August.

As registered keeper of the above vehicle on the date the contractually agreed terms and conditions were breached you were informed that the PCN that you had 28 days to either appeal, settle the notice by making a payment, or provide a serviceable name and UK Address for the driver so that we may pursue them. Despite this request, a full name and serviceable address for the driver has not been provided.

Please beware that as you have failed to provide us with the full name and UK serviceable address for the driver with the 28 day period stipulated on the PCN, we are now within our rights to recover from the registered keeper under the protection of freedom act 2012

We have considered the points you have raised and our response is as follows.

It then continues going on about the points I made in the appeal (template i used from newbies thread)
sends the signs saying they are approved by BPA.
Then sends the information for POPLA on how to appeal, so looks like they encourage this?!

Just wanted to check that I have provided them with enough information before I start the POPLA appeal?

Thanks again, sorry if I'm over cautious, just want to go about everything in the right way

you dont have to provide them with any information, they are the claimant so its their problem not yours

if you have your popla code, check that its valid and more importantly check the expiry date is in about 28 days time

then , assuming its ok, draft a VCS popla appeal either by adapting an RHA (doncaster) recent popla appeal by another member further down the process, or a JLA (liverpool) recent popla appeal but alter the location etc to suit in your notepad draft

then it can be checked and submitted online to popla, using their website and attaching it, ticking all boxes except stolen
