  • Tv is probably most valuable thing, and that's years old now. I'm not extravagant at all

The "years old" bit doesnt 100% come into play as it has to be valued on a new for old basis. Now the fact its years old means that if it was top of the range then thats its probably middle of the range now but doesnt mean its worth pennies.

Other than clothes the same goes for everything else, if you bought a secondhand £1,000 dining suite 10 years go for £150 you'd probably look to have to value it at £1,500 now even though you bought it second hand for a tenth of that.

Most expensive item is probably sofa, £800.
Similar tv I guess would be £300 now.
    Otherwise it's odds and sods.
Table and chairs are a cheap set I got for nothing and painted!
4 years of £1k a month mortgage, and paying parents back £14k, has left no money for anything than paint!
    I live a simple existence :)

Even those with money may decide that its better spent on things other than "stuff" for their nest.

Just want to ensure you dont fall into the trap that some people do who forget everything has to be valued as brand new today (other than antiques) irrespective of how much it was when they got it and especially if they bought it secondhand etc.

I leave all the expensive items to my brother!
I see what you are saying, and appreciate your replies :)
    Other than essentials (TV's!) there's not a lot I want/need.
It is a very good point about value as new today.
