Has anyone got any ideas of what I can do with my wedding dress please? I've had it out the loft still love it, but didn't get it cleaned as the fabric was snagged on my big day. Is there anywhere I can have it changed into something else? I have seen ideas but I can't sew very well so would rather pay someone else to do it. Thank you

They usually use old baby clothes etc to make a teddy from to keep, but I don't see why they can't use a wedding dress!0 -
Please please give it to http://www.bonniebabies.co.uk/0

I lobbed the bottom off mine, and made it 'stright', I got some red slik transfers and idrons these on, changed the beading along the neckline from pearls to red beads and added red buttons down the back. It's now a posh kind of cocktail dress.
i have never sewn in my life and only bought the sewing machine to do this, never used it since. I was going to make small cushions out of the bottom and train of my dress, but never got round to it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Is the dress really so damaged that you can't give it to a charity shop for someone else to buy for their own wedding day? I just feel that wedding dresses are such beautiful garments that cost too much and have too much work put into them to only be worn for one day. I'd feel really happy if my wedding dress could be enjoyed by another bride on her special day.0

My mum used her wedding dress to make me a fairy costume for a play I was in when I was 5 - she did an amazing job of it, and it was the dress from her first marriage (to my dad) so she wasn't too bothered anyway. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

TBH I would keep it as a wedding dress. I wouldn't give it away OR alter it.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

My mum made her wedding dress into christening dresses for me and my sister.0

I don't see why you shouldn't turn it into something special to wear on other occasions.
Check out local 'dressmakers'. phone them and ask if they have any experience in this (though a good one would perhaps be able to do so without experience).
if the fabric is suitable maybe you could even have it dyed?
I think its a lovely idea btw! and you should have enough fabric that you could keep some to turn into a christening gown for a forthcoming child or grandchild?
I doubt if this service would come cheap - but, good quality clothes never are, are they?0 -
I would have thought an expert dressmaker would be able to turn it into a sophisticated party dress for you. Google dressmakers in your local area and ask about their experience . Only one tip though - if you still keep it as a dress, ask the dressmaker to try and build in some generous seams if you want to keep it long term as a souvenir amd trymto keep the style as classic as possible so tin doesn't date too much. Most brides are at their slimmest on their wedding due to nerves from stress of it all and the pounds can pile on quickly afterwards meaning that a year later you may no longer be able to squeeze into it!0

I had my dress cleaned after our wedding and it sat in the wardrobe for quite a while. To be honest thanks to the horrible wedding shop that I bought it from I had no attachment to it whatsoever and didnt really like it in the end.
I planned at some time to give it to a charity shop but one Friday there was an advert in our local paper for second hand wedding dresses. The lady asking for them was auctioning them off for charity at a wedding show. Before I had chance to change my mind I contacted her and dropped the dress off within an hour.
No regrets whatsoever just hope the person that bought it loved it more than me.0
