CAA told me to go back to Airline after sitting on claim for nearly a year

I claimed from Cubana Airlines for a delay, they 'opened' but ignored all e-mails. I took my claim to the CAA who I had to constantly chase. They sat on it for nearly a year and when I chased again I was finally told all claimants had already been told to go back to the Airline direct as this was not something they could help with. I went back to Cubana again and they are still ignoring me. Any useful suggestions anyone please ? Has anyone else had this direction from the CAA UK? thanks.:)

CAA have no powers, they can give an opinion and, even if they agree that you have a case for compensation, cannot make the airline pay up.
FAQs - read about taking the airline to court (you would probably have to do that even if you managed to get the CAA to support your claim)0 -

I am digging this old thread up because I may have some news on Cubana.
I too have a claim and got nowhere on the DIY route as they have no UK office and wont reply, I felt I have nothing to loose using a company that take a percentage, that company, after many months took the same view.
I suggested to them that Cubana have many offices across Europe and as this is an EU ruling then maybe they should look at taking action in an EU country where Cubana have an office.
The news is this is exactly what they are looking to do, I thought I would pass on the glimmer of hope and maybe any other Cubana claimants can follow my route..0 -
Surely this is the same as Ryanair, being based in Eire? Use the ESCP?If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Jpears, thanks for the tip, I have sent them this information too, I will see what they think.
It could be because their head office is not in the EU but they do have local EU offices that enforcement can be taken out in..0
