I did MSE, over paying by every spare penny, downshifted on the shopping, got a lodger, well got two lodgers eventually and lived on the small things boards for ages and ages.
Learnt so much on here and the support was utterly invaluable.
Without these lovely folks I think I would have run away and kept my head in the sand forever.
These are fabulous boards, you'll do great. If I can turn myself around, anyone can.
So what's the kitty's name
Congratulations! It does give me hope when I see so many people who have done so well (and many in worse positions than I am). I think my IVA is around 8,000 so I have a way to go. I know by the end of the IVA they wipe off the debt but I'd feel better knowing it's all paid off as I don't want to feel like I've not taken ownership or something.
Unfortunately lodgers aren't an option for me as I am technically a lodger (with family). I've even sold everything of value and just in the process of trying to get rid of my stash of books. Oddly enough, noone seems to be into buying books... My mum suggested something like MusicMagpie. Facebook and other sites like that didn't work anyway. If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -
In terms of your comments on the meal plan, I have used tinned beans in stews and such. I especially liked using the 5 bean mixes, but I may work with the dried if that works out cheaper. If I know it's better for me (and better value) I don't mind spending a little time on it.
Wise thing to do. At least when you do it yourself, there's a limit as to what can get in there. Say neigh to mystery meat...I'm actually not a veggie but I don't feel I need the meat (and it's far too expensive). I'll stick to my simple grocery shops without worrying about meat.
Have some every once in a while though. I notice you have tuna in there - that's probably good enough. A friend of mine noticed she got depressed on a vegan diet, so she ate fish and eggs. She is called Poppy. Are we able to upload pictures, or is it links only?

Dead tree books are not that popular now, and the popular ones are in such abundant supply, that they are cheapest of all. So you may be stuck with your 50 Shades of Grey...

I've never had a kebab for that reason! Disliked the idea long before I realised it was essentially the carcus at the end of the line... eurgh.Have some every once in a while though. I very rarely eat meat but I do eat plenty of eggs and occasionally fish. If I go out, or if someone else cooks, there's usually meat involved but I don't really miss it. I don't find it depresses me either. General circumstances make me feel a little glum but lack of meat doesn't as I feel there's sufficient proteins in my diet with the quinoa and nuts etc mixed into food.
I did feel really ratty when I cut out caffeine about a month ago, but that doesn't bother me now (I seem to be caffeine sensitive as regular consumption really affected my sleep). It's just sugar that still holds a vice, albeit less than it used to.It's links only, so get yourself a photobucket account - it being free.
I don't think I have a photobucket account anymore... at least, not one I've used in years. Actually, I listed my books weeks ago and no luck. I have split up the lot as a last resort in the hopes someone will snap up the odd small bargain lot... my mum, on the otherhand, sold her 50 shades set within 2 minutes of posting for the asking price of £5. Sad. So very sad. That probably should tell me all I need to know about the state of the book market these days... :PSlightly rarer ones may be better - have you tried Green Metropolis?
I wouldn't really say I have 'rare' books. I tried a couple of online buyers but 1 out of 80 books was wanted. If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -

Good luck with vet enquiries
I'm never sure about the cost of dried beans versus the cost of tinned as you have to factor in cooking costs with dried, bit I do know never to buy haricot (drain a can of value baked) and never buy from the 'whole food' aisle what you can pick up in the 'world food' aisle. Chick peas are 79p a can in whole foods, or 65p for 3 in world foods. Rice is the same. Even the same supermarket basmati with slightly different packaging is cheaper if you pick it up from the aisle that stocks the Indian spices and bulk-buy chappati flour type stuff rather than where the Patak's is sold.
Love your signature by the way - it amused me you even put a library fine on there!

Your moggy is gorgeous!!!! A bit of a scruff! I had one like that. The neighbours fed out of pity as she looked scruffy and she used to hang around doorsteps looking pitiful and pathetic. Scruffy cats save you a few bob in food, haha! They were feeding her fresh bloody chicken as well!

I believe it's actually fats, rather than anything else. Google for "essential oils". She was of the opinion there were some she was missing in her diet, despite getting Udo's Miracle or whatever it's called (it's a package of essential oils in the right mix).
As you can probably tell, I eat meat so I don't worry about such things. Though if my skin becomes rough, I know I need some fish.I did feel really ratty when I cut out caffeine about a month ago, but that doesn't bother me now (I seem to be caffeine sensitive as regular consumption really affected my sleep). Not "rare" - just rarer. If everyone has a copy of your book and bought it the instant it came out, then it'll have more supply and less demand than something that was less successful.

I did notice that last time I was looking for something else and ended up on world foods! I liked the big bag of rice etc idea though... There's actually an Asian wholesaler-type shop near me that stocks pretty much anything the local takeaways would need. In some cases, it's not always the cheapest option but it is for things like large bags of rice, nuts, seeds, spices etc... so I'll no doubt end up back there after to pay day to stock up the pantry.ChopinonaBudget wrote: »A debt's a debt!
I think it just amused me as I thought noone visited the library anymore and, even if they did, it was for the computers. Proof that you obviously do visit for reading! If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -

She most definitely is a big of a scruff. That picture was taken when I had her about a day. When I adopted her she was covered in hundreds of fleas, incredibly underfed, had little bald patches and looked exhausted as she barely slept properly. She looked like she was forcing herself to stay awake.
I've had her about a week now and she's relaxed a lot. Put on a little weight, seems to be flea-free, looks more alert when she is awake and generally more relaxed. She is still a little jumpy at times but she seems to be doing well
Fresh chicken? Lucky cat!If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0
