in Mobiles
Order upgrade this weekend via buymobiles.net to take out a new contract with EE (currently with them).
So buymobiles contacted me yesterday at 5pm to say phone was being despatched.
This morning I woke though - no signal on old phone. Went to work phoned EE. It seems my old sim was disabled at 6pm the night before. Basically, an hour after the order went through.
No warning or anything. Surely they'd have worked out that it might be an idea to cancel the sim the day after (i.e. when the new sim arrives rather than the day the sim is posted) to ensure the user does not lose service.
I use my phone for business and today no-one would have been able to get hold of me.
Of course, phoned EE and they didnt give a monkeys....
Very poor indeed EE.

they always send a new sim as well.0

T-Mobile have always operated in this way (and EE now use the T-Mobile systems so I doubt there has been a change to the procedure). It's not possible to have 2 live sims with the same details on the system. When a new sim is activated it automatically deactivates the old one.
The sales adviser should have notified you, so really, the fault lies with your dealer.====0 -

Yes, but how is a new sim activated? I thought the user had to activate it when they got it.
Surely the old sim should work until the new one is activated and the OP would not have had a problem.0 -

No, different activation. The new sim becomes the active one as soon as it's processed, there is a suspension of services on the new sim that the user will call to have lifted once received. Your way would make more sense, but it's not the way the systems can do it (I don't know if they could change that, even if they wanted to).====0 -
What happened was that old sim was deactivated straight away then I waited a day for new one to arrive. Put in phone - different number - day later changed to old number.
Two days without number - not cool.
I know wife did same with o2. old sim still worked until switch to new one.0
