Surely this should read 'one auction per year', otherwise it sounds like the auction is going on for a looong time!
But then - there's no effective competition so it can, and it will.
Only if sellers let them, with the 20 free listings a month + FLWs if I ever have over that, these higher fees will never affect what they get to charge me
I would imagine the percentage of sellers using the enhanced listing features is very small , I can't recall the last time I bothered at all.

Time for a anti competition commission inquiry to happen.;)

How little I know.!!
For someone selling a lot online there's Amazon Marketplace.
There are other ways to sell though, many of which are free and can work with some effort, Gumtree, Facebool, newspapers, carboot sales, etc
There has been plenty of competition, ebid for instance has been running in the UK longer than ebay but nobody really uses it. Other sites have come and gone over the years. There are a lot of rumours about new players coming into the market, some of them have us quite hopeful- but it is reasonable to expect they will want the profitable bit of the market- and that is probably medium to large business sellers. Meanwhile private sellers can use Facebook selling pages, Gumtree etc and even small local ads.
As for the paypal fee- they are not charging for keeping your money they are charging to receive it- and their charges are actually slightly lower than a pukka merchant card payment system.
